Then you could lift up your feet and wait for the earth to turn under you until you were close to the place you wanted to be. Then you let go. This would save on gas. Like a ski lift it could move a lot people or stuff.

Well that is simuliar to my other way of travel. That is to
drill a hole straight down to the otherside of the earth. Then
have a free falling elevator to go through the hole. It would
accelerate to the center of earth and deaccelerate till it lands
on the other side. I guess that would be Australia maybe anyway
it would cut down the long airline flights and its all for free from
gravity.
