God helps those who help themselves...thumbs up

restated:

"It's is the final proof of God's omnipotence that He need not exist in order to save us."-The Mackeral

We make things happen, via action or inaction. I for one aint waiting around for the miracle, I'll make it happen. But I have to be here to experience it, so in that sense, I count my blessings every day.

Each day, in itself, is a blessing. Keep that in mind, everyone.

and i say you are wrong and the philosophy you are expressing has already killed millions and will go on doing it so.
let me say it once more, but from another point of view, and clearing in advance that i am not attacking YOU personally, but the idea you expressed.
even if you could say that feeling satisfied with what YOU have is the way to be happy, there's a big problem there: if you are HAPPY, you don't need anything else and therefore won't try to invent new things, perfection the ones that already exist, NOR help the rest of us, poor sad mortals who are not happy, to get to your position. Why would you? If you are happy with what you have, you don't need to do any EFFORT at all, for you, nor for us, the REST.
So, even if your life is roses, conformism, or thanking for what you got and never wanting to improve, is terribly selfish and therefore, in the view of the actual world situation, assasin.

And i thought the forums were not to talk personal matters, but i will gladly accept to answer your question, mainly because is closely related with the topic:
If you CAN be happy with life, then your filter is set to mediocrity, and even if you have enough for you, you are SENDING misery to the REST of us, and that's all you'll ever GIVE to us. To give, you must HAVE first.
So...NO.
I am NOT happy with life. With mine, nor with anybody i know of. And when you fight for your life you are not only doing it for yourself, you are also doing it for the next generations, and in the name of those who can't fight. They have the will, they have infinite reasons to fight, to complain, to claim what they don't have, but they can't do it. They have no voice. And you have a voice, you have a nice life, and you say that then you shouldn't complain? And you think i am the one who has the "filter" wrongly set?barf comfort

And that is the point.

First we recognize the good, that always is whether we acknowledge it or not, and then we ride a bicycle to work using the good and thus extending our ability.

I have lost dearly loved ones and felt like i couldnt continue, like i didnt even want to continue but i had the choice is what i recognise. So i will ride a bike to work or wherever simply because i can and to celebrate their lives and to Honour the pain that they endured in order for me to overstep such obstacles in my life - leading to who knows where - the body becomes dust ultimately - only the love we have given and others have experienced endures xxx

Just because I am thankful for what I have accomplished certainly doesn't mean I have closed the door to more goals.

I would say its a wasted effort to try to convince this person of anything, assets. He has his view, and we have ours.

Really all I can say for sure is I can't say anything for sure. He seems convinced of his view, and I for one don't get paid to change his mind.

You've had your gratis punches at my philosophy friend. It's 5 pounds for any further argument. The Argument Clinic is not a charity you know.wink

so a child who's born with AIDS, no brain development 'cos he didn't have enough basic proteinic supply when he was born and without parents 'cos they were both killed in an endless war is GUILTY of "what" exactly, according to your point of view? Damn! you are right, the stupid child didn't want to HELP himself.....of course, how could i been so blind and not see it? he DESERVES what he's got!!
As you deserve what you had, because you are good and pure and a fighter and you pray a lot...of course, because the child i am talking about will be dead BEFORE reaching four, he won't even know how to pray, nor his brain will ever be able to learn how to read nor write...so he will never, even in those chances in where he survives, be able to have one job, not talking about two....
and look at you!!
you say it proudly, you worked ten years two jobs to get yourself a roof!! and instead of looking at the inequalities of your own country, with more than 50 % inhabitants without any medical care and almost 30 % unemployment, instead of recognising all is wrong, you stay happily at your home congratulating yourself for what YOU got....and what about the REST, miss believer in god?
because frankly, if your god is a one person only god, it shouldn't exist.
and clearly, if any of the religions would have to be checked with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, none would pass the test and would be permanently banned....

you received "charity" as you called it, since you were born.......or you wouldn't be alive today. You couldn't have survived REAL life for a second pal.comfort

there is school of thought which suggests that we choose which reality we are born into, some choose only a short stay in this particular reality whilst others choose, before birth, to stay many years and experience things gently over a period of time - its not about beliefs or countries or medical care or unemployment or, dare I say about, God, for God is a man made concept only - if it/he were the ultimate then why would he/it be open to such scrutiny - truths are scientificaly provable - am i wrong

I am amazed at your posting.
I thought the ways to make people feel comfortable with the state of the things had stopped with religions, and now you enlight me talking about this wonderful idea....
That's it!!
People who suffer CHOOSE before birth to suffer!!!!!
Now, why didn't i think of THAT???
I mean, with religions you could say that god is not good at all, even a disgusting butcher, but if people CHOOSE to suffer in this life, and nobody's to blame for it, then...it's perfect!!!
Now we can all go to sleep relaxed, thanks to this new philosophy.....by the way, could it be that this fantastic new idea is sponsored by some of the wealthiest families of the globe?
