Now it seems to me that a great number of CS members will be on the move this summer..
for either holidays - but even changing workplace - travelling for University programms etc. etc..

in this thread one can post where they are going and as they like to have information on the place they are staying and as they would like to meet other people who live in their destination...

yay hug peace

I believe Tuscany is The Area in Italia .... I unfortunately only experienced the Bologna area, on the other side of Italy, of which I was not impressed.... couldn`t wait to vacate the place.... couldn`t find a sq.cm of space to sit on the beach even! and the sea water did not look too inviting either...!

My sister spends time in a place called Pietrosante,on the beach-side of Tuscany, where all the artists and sculptures hang out ... olde worlde type of place, lots of atmosphere, where the marble comes from the local cliffs for sculputuring..... She`s so hooked on the place, she prefers that.... to visiting me in beautiful Switzerland !!!!

Hi Smokywave
Yes your sister is quite right about Pietrasanta, its special - the nice is that its a few miles away from the beach, and a lovely old town with lots of atmosphere .. very bohéme and artistic people there -
I lived there for a season some 20 years ago supervising the remodeling of a house in the hills - allways with the feeling of wanting to go back there someday.. but most parts of the Tuscany are really nice, except in August when all is much to crowded..

My work sends me places in addition to my vacation breaks. So far this summer work has sent me to Norway. I had one day for myself and saw the fjords...absolutely beautiful! I also have been to the US and drove from Baltimore to Lexington, KY. Beautiful mountain scenery there. Two more work trips may include England and Kandahar, Afghanistan. I am not thrilled about the last one too much though. At least it won't be for too long if it happens.

Good, no Great idea. I'll probably be going to Tuscany too at Arrezo. Have an long time colleague there. I travel just out of season when prices have fallen by nearly 50%. Italy, in season, is overpriced and it seems everybody is out to shake you down. But the people are wonderful all the same.cool If you are in Tuscany dont miss the Siena, Florence Arrezo triangle where Chianti is grown. And dont forget to have a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino. Always check your bill; coperta is 'cover' price table cloth etc. And is not unknown for some restaurators to add the telephone or vat number to the final bill!laugh
