RE: Selfish in the bedroom

I think it is best to keep going until the lady tells you to stop, because she has had enough/too much. I never was much for a quickie, for me a nice, lazy Saturday morning in bed is best...and if it runs into the afternoon, all the better. ;)

RE: I Am Scared Now, What Have I Done

So then now, he only has your daughter to sleep with. Now instead of having a distant problem, you may have a problem even closer to home.

Sometimes it is just best to leave things alone.

RE: I am just so happy for the people of the US and all of us

I am also in the Air Force. Sorry about your husband. He is a hero and a patriot. I know you are angry he was taken away by this war, but he and all of us are volunteers. I assume he was a good airman, and as a good airman he understood the risks and was willing to make that sacrifice in defense of the USA. None of us want to be killed, but it is what we sign up to do, if necessary.

God bless you.

RE: I am just so happy for the people of the US and all of us

Iron curtain. What a laugh! You should know the wall came down already. Besides, I am not Polish. I only have worked here the past two years. I've been to 20 countries in the past two years. I see the big picture.

RE: I am just so happy for the people of the US and all of us

I resent the foreigners in this thread speaking poorly and disrespectfully of former President Bush. It is fine to disagree with his decisions, but he did not make decisions to please anyone. He made his decisions to protect America, and he did that well. Not one attack occurred on American soil after 9/11. He was not hired by the American people to make Germany, India or anyone else prosperous or happy. He did what the Constitution requires him to do. Protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I wish President Obama the best. I believe he will be a fine President. He is an intelligent guy and he has the backing of the US people. Working together we can make a better America.

RE: Why do men run from a single parent?

I'm a single dad of a 16 year old daughter. I will never tell my daughter this, but until recently she has been the main reason I have been alone most of the past 11 years since my divorce.

I have been engaged twice, but then the ladies become afraid, because my job sometimes requires me to be away from my daughter for months at a time. They don't want that responsibility. It isn't that my daughter is a trouble-maker. It is just that she exists and they know they would have to be responsible for her when I can't be there.

Dorothy is almost 17 now, and I see some light at the end of the tunnel. I have mixed feelings, because I love my daughter and she is welcome to stay with me if she needs to. However, being single for so long also is tough. I have a girlfriend now, but we still have little privacy. We have to meet at her place normally for private time, and I always must be home in the morning when my daughter wakes up. I have to be a good example for her.

I never dated a single woman with children during my years alone. It would have been nice to share the burden with her and I could help with hers. I do have friends in this situation, but never a romantic encounter.

Lastly, you describe yourself as "strong-willed". I don't know how strong you mean. If it is too strong, like overbearing, then maybe that is the problem, and not the kids.

RE: Do you like the new image of CS?

No. The website is too cluttered now and I can't figure out where everything is located. It was better and simpler before. I build sites for a living and if I did something like this I would be told to remove the new version and start over.

RE: How to better educate your kids

Very interesting thread. Parents have a huge challenge these days. There are so many dangers online, yet you can't protect your kids from the bad things in the World forever, otherwise they will be completely unprepared when you die.

My daughter is 16. Until she was five, my ex and I were together. At that time we watched Dorotthy's every move, because she was so small, and we were living in Turkey. Since she didn't know the language, she could get into all sorts of trouble. Of course, being a fair blonde, it was easy to pick her out of the crowd. :)

After my divorce, Dorothy's mom continued watching her and making all decisions for her, to include choosing her clothes. By the age of 12, Dorothy began to rebel at this lack of any freedom. She and her mom had huge arguments, sometimes even violent (mostly from the mom's side). Dorothy was in counseling and taking eight different pills for depression, stomach aches, sleeping, etc.

After a year away in Korea, my work brought me back to the US. All of these problems were hidden from me until Dorothy came to visit me for the summer. By the end of the summer, Dorothy decided to live with me and her mom agreed.

Today she is a well-behaved young woman without any drugs to keep her happy. She has some stress from living in Poland the past two years with me, and all the cultural issues that involves, but she loves her life and is really enjoying the chance to see Europe. This Christmas I let her choose where we will go for holiday. She chose Dublin, since her mom is 75% Irish, and that is her heritage too as a result.

The key for me is that I had to give Dorothy freedom in small quantities and gradually teach her to make her own decisions. Four years ago, she didn't know which of her clothes matched, and I had to teach her so much from that point. Now she buys her own clothes, and she dresses very smartly for a young teen. She is making the good choices regarding boys, drugs, smoking and alcohol. She will eventually have a serious boyfriend, but now I am not worried when that day comes.

Still there are times she just counts on dad. I remeber once she called me when I was working in Norway. She couldn't find a taxi to go home. She had the number, but she wasn't confident enough with her Polish to order a cab. I ordered it, but then reminded her that she must learn to do every small thing for herself eventually, because I will not live forever (I am 30 years older than her). I told her my mobile phone will not have signal in my grave. Of course, she didn't like me teasing her, but sometimes I do that, and I know she will miss it later. ;)

Enjoy the holidays and enjoy your kids while they still are with you.

RE: Chernobyl Fallout!!!

Interesting fact -- A twin power plant to Chernobyl is still operating on the outskirts of Vilnius, Lithuania. I drove past it on the highway when I visited a few months ago. It is scheduled to be shutdown when a joint project to replace it is completed by Lithuania and Estonia.

RE: Who is this woman?????

Smoky,

You hit the nail on the head. Most men would like a woman that is feminine, and cares about family issues more than her career. It means setting priorities straight. My main focus is on my daughter, since I am a single dad. Yes, my job is important, because it puts bread on the table, but people need to remember they work so they can live, not live so they can work. Having a partner with the same priorities is important to me.

The woman in this video has some very good qualities that a lot of men would look for. Yes, she is poorly educated, but that can be remedied by going back to school. She is beautiful, feminine, polite, cheerful, has a good sense of humor and doesn't seem to be too stuck on herself to be the butt of a few jokes.

I do like intelligent women, but not at the expense of the other qualities that people look for in their friends and partners. Also, sometimes people in general are too intelligent for their own good. You'll find a lot of those folks here. They are the ones who are always trying to prove to everyone that their opinion is always right. They are the ones that are condescending and intolerant to others. That to me , is a bigger turnoff than being ignorant, because no amount of schooling will fix that sort of personality flaw.

RE: Should Kosovo be allowed to join Europe ?

Unless my geography teacher was wrong, Kosovo has always been in Europe.

RE: NEXT TIME U EAT BURGER KING THINK.....

There's hardly any fast food in Poland where I live. It is amazing, but I have lost 8 kilos and four inches around my waist since April without exercising, just because of the healthy food here. Fast food was killing me in the US. The portions are too big and there are too many chemicals and fat in the food.

RE: Just great!

Yes, I noticed this as well. In Poland I can only see the EU Forums, but not the International Forums. I used to visit both, but now I can't even find the International Forum. It is a dumb decision on someone's part.

RE: Decline of the church

Actually, I don't think the church has declined at all. It is pretty much unchanged from what it was 1000 years ago. What has declined is society in general, and so now the people of today's society are unwilling to live by the age-old rules that Jesus taught and the church continues to teach. When they do go to church, they are hit straight in the face with the fact that they are sinners. They cannot turn away from their worldly goods, decadent lifestyle and promiscuous ways. Life has become too pleasurable and no one wants to submit to God's will and sacrifice their happiness to live a righteous life.

RE: where do you live

I am currently living in Bydgoszcz, Poland, about 3 hrs southwest of Gdansk or four hours southeast of Berlin. I'll be here for at least another 17 months.

I was born in Lexington, KY, but home for me is Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, since I own a house there (I'm renting it to a friend).

RE: not ready for relationship

I might be letting out a "man secret" here, but since most of my true friends are women, I'll take the chance.

Many of the men I know like to play a game with women. They have no true interest in them as people. They are just wanting to see if they can "win the prize" of taking the woman to bed. To do this, they will tell the woman anything they think they want to hear, wine and dine them and then after a few rolls in the hay, they say something like this to get out of the "relationship". It is a very sick game in my opinion, but a lot of men do this. I have warned my 15 year old daughter about this, and I hope she will remember this as she meets these men later in her life.

One other thing I tell my daughter is this: "All married men are liars when they are cheating on their wives". It is impossible for them to cheat without lying to someone, so it is only your guess as to who he is lying to from day to day.

RE: if you had all the money in the world that you wanted what type of lifestyle would you live ?

If I had all the money in the World, I would be miserable, because it would be my responsibility to feed and clothe the World, since no one else would have the resources they need to survive.

RE: Talking about Bulgaria and Romania

Three of my best friends in Poland are from Bulgaria. In fact I spent all day Saturday with them this weekend. What do you want to know about Bulgaria? I have never been there, but these three friends are the best! :)

RE: Invation from intelectuals here

Actually, littleprechan, "realise" is the proper spelling in the Oxford English dictionary. "Realize" is an American English spelling. We Americans have a lot of different spellings from the English, but that doesn't make theirs wrong, since theirs is the "Mother Tongue".

RE: The DAY AFTER ROSWELL, is The Definig Book as to The REALITY of UFO'S...

My brother lives in Roswell. He says the museum there and the story are good for his business. When I am in the US, I visit him during the week of July 4th and run in the Alien Chase 5K race. The big lunatic reunion (I mean UFO Convention) is that week as well as my brother's birthday on the 6th. It is a fun time. My 15 year old totally believes in the story. I used to as well when I was her age. :)

RE: Have you ever embarrassed your kids?

If I am in the toy section, I play with the toys. They have some really cool toys for children...especially for toddlers. I think I only had wooden blocks with numbers and letters painted on them with lead-based paint.

My daughter and I both sing karaoke. We're going out tonight in fact. I sing the "oldies". Sometimes we sing "Bohemian Phapsody" together. We can't get those harmonies down and sound horrible at certain parts, but it is fun inflicting pain on others. The Polish people still treat us like rock stars, since we are the only Americans in the place. :) They enjoy it more when I sing, "Crocodile Rock" or my daughter sings "Still Haven't Found What I am Looking for" by U2.

My 15-year old daughter says she can't take me anywhere. :)

RE: Iran. Next target?

Of course, that is their job to do what they think is best for their country. If they didn't, then their rivals would remove them from office. All leaders of countries do what they think is best for their countries.

There is a good portion of people in the US that want to be isolated. However, if they were smart, they would realise this would be the end of cheap gas (yes, they are still not paying $6.50/gallon for gas), cheap clothes from China, cheap food harvested by Mexican workers, and cheap houses also built by Mexican workers.

RE: "Where were you, on..." No. 5

I was working at Hurlburt Field, Florida (Headquarters of Air Force Special Operations) that morning. I was at my desk when the first reports came in. One of the offices nearby had a small TV and I watched the replay footage on CNN of the first plane hitting the tower and also the live footage for a few minutes. I couldn't imagine how a pilot could accidentally fly into a tower that size without seeing it on such a clear day.

I didn't stay long, because I was the building manager and I received a notice to change our THREATCON signs to BRAVO on the doors, and implement our checklist, which was a fairly common request. It just meant we were under a slightly higher alert due to some unspecified threat to our area. After doing that I returned to glance at the TV just as the second jet crashed into the second tower. I said aloud, "That can't be an accident.". Apparently, others felt the same way, since a few minutes later our THREATCON went to CHARLIE. I had to print out the signs for this while someone else did the rest of the checklist, since we had never been to that level, except in exercises. I finished printing those signs and was walking to the doors to post them when we went to DELTA, the highest level, which in those days meant we were under attack or attack was imminent. We were totally shutdown and could leave the building for a few hours, not even to eat lunch.

It was a very long day for us, and for the rest of the Nation. It was eeire to see all the AC-130s and Black Hawks gone from our flight line. They soon were in the news as they provided support for the mission over in Central Asia and other places around the World. My mom became a news junkie for months afterwards. In the meantime, our Base turned into a virtual ghost town as the Special Forces deployed to places I had never even heard of in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the World. Life in the Air Force has not been the same since that day. We live and breathe the events and what has transpired since then, and my current NATO job in Poland would not even exist had that day not occurred.

RE: how soon is too soon??

There is no set time for this. Some people fall in love faster than others. Some people also think they have fallen in love and later they find it was lust instead. Just take it slow. If he really loves you, he will wait. I waited seven years in my last relationship. We were engaged for six of those years. In the end, it didn't work out, because my job moved me to Europe for a minimum of two years. She decided she couldn't make that last step into marriage, and we both agreed to end the relationship as friends.

RE: knock knock your X is at the door what would you do??

I'd let her in...not only because she traveled all the way from the US to Poland, but because our daughter lives with me. She could stay for a few days in the guest room if she decided to stay for a short visit. She isn't a bad person anyway. She just has a few personality issues. I consider her a friend, but there is no way I would ever live in the same house (or even State) with her again.

After a few days, I'd give her two things -- a ride to the airport and a Polish phrasebook (I wouldn't want her to get lost in the airport and miss her flight).

RE: Don't ya just hate it when that happens Thread

Well, if you stay in your apartment, the only way you'll find her is if she comes to the door asking for a cup of sugar. I did actually meet a lady that way once. It was her way of getting to this shy boy. wave

RE: the world

Wedward,

Mankind cannot solve or prevent the problems you list. We cannot prevent famine, floods or earthquakes. Natural disasters are uncontrollable forces of nature.

A World government would also not be the solution. If there was a World government, we wouldn't like it. Look at the most successful governments in history that spanned even a large portion of the World. We have the existing nations of Russia, China, Canada and the US. All of these countries have some sort of internal problems, whether it is corruption, organized crime, poverty or human rights abuses. The same existed in the Roman Empire, Persian Empire and all great empires of History. The phrase "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" comes to mind.

You would need a selfless, strong and intelligent leader to rule the world. The only person who ever would meet the standard required is Jesus Christ, and the bible predicts that he will return to rule the World. Before that occurs, this World will always have suffering.

RE: When do u get up usually?

Weekdays I get up at 0530. Weekends...whenever I wake up, but it is usually by 0800.

RE: Best Places to Eat In Your Area

My favorite place here to eat is Caffe Zetka on Gdanska street in Bydgoszcz. It serves mostly American and Italian style dishes. There are also a lot of traditional Polish restaurants here. My favorite is Kartowka in Osielsko, which is about 7 km from my house. They have excellent Szabowy (pork chops) and Pierogi (traditional, filled, Polish dumplings).

RE: for marrige
