Would you really want to go through life without loving in case you're abondoned and the pain might be too much to bear??? I am sorry i cannot suggest anything, no love means no emotions to me and I couldnt live that way.

Would you consider the possibility that "not to love" might not be the answer... May be to love and let go and carry on loving with less intensity... May be to feel the pain and breath the pain and cry the tears so as not to deny your own feelings... May be to achieve detachment without loosing the love... May be to feel the love as a beautiful feeling to keep in your heart and feed from it... May be the feeling of love to sustain you and share with all the people around you who care for you and also to share with someone new somewhere, sometime down the line... 
But i think the people who abandon and make the pain too much to bear are normally the people you once had a strong contact with that means the people you once loved or trusted.........

Sorry Brandyli my post was not meant to sound like a lecture and was certainely not meant to offend you or make light of your feelings.

True and maybe in time they were not owrthy of your love - it hurts and it hurts like mad that you may wish to be dead for a short while since it may seem the easiest way to face it BUT never give up.
I have found that in my worst moments, when i asked for help i found it, be it a friend's telephone call, family or even strength within yourself. It's at these times that you become a stronger person and same experiences make you appreciate what and who you have around.
Dont give up otherwise it would have been all wasted, learn from it and believe.

firstly, I don't believe your neighbor committed suicide JUST BECAUSE his wife had told him that! if somebody commits suicide it's connected to his/her WHOLE PSYCHOLOGICAL STATE, not only to one heard statement!
for me, the question is "how to cope with love suffering", not "how not to love"...

well... in some exceptional ppl, emotions get the better of them... but in my past experience, i learnt that you should never make someone your everything, cos once you lose him/her, you lose all!
one should always love with their head... not their heart! ppl who love with their heart might find themselves doing things they would never dream of... just for one person. so it's better to love with your head and remain sane enough to have some self-dignity left. :)
