Tried Zyban for about a month, just didn't work for me. Probably wasn't the right time, didn't give it a fair shot, or I just wasn't ready.

When will I be ready, I don't know. Been smoking since I was thirteen, that makes it about twenty eight years, nothing to be proud of. Should have gotten serious about quitting some time ago. I think you really have to want to quit regardless of the methods used.

But no, haven't successfully quit with Zyban.

My doctor told me Zyban was not a quit smoking drug but a mild muscle relaxant and it would not make me stop smoking. However, it could slow the cravings and help me relax so the stress wouldn't be so bad but the smoking was definitely something I had to be ready to quit.
I tried it five years ago and the first three days were with my nine year old son. When I dropped him off at home he said, "Dad, I'm really glad you quiy, but are you ever hard to live with."
I thought I was fine till I blew up at my room mate and we had a good arguement, which is really not me. I figured I'd better start again and I did. 5 days.
Last year I tried again and went 25 days and the same kind of anxiety told me to start again.
In hindsite, I should have gone to a doctoer for a mild sedative or something instead of back to cigarettes.
I will quit again and this time with better preparation. My compliments to those who have quit. I'll be one of you someday.

yes, they found some people on wellbutrin where able to quit smoking. Ta-da! Zyban!

Tried both actually, unsuccessful. Like to try either of them along with some sort of "mild sedative" as Murray mentioned earlier. Maybe even some of those nicorette inhaler puffer thingies, had a puff one time and nearly fell over.

Used Zyban to quit and successfully quit for 7 months. It was easy. In fact, it was so easy I believed I could control cigarette smoking by 7 months off it with no cravings that a few at the bar wouldn't hurt. I did that and then a few here and there wouldn't hurt. I did that and before I knew it I had started smoking again.

A repeated attempt to use Zyban some time later (years) produced very ugly side effects with anxiety.... I had my one and only shot with it.

I've quit at least 7 or 8 times using from cold turkey to gum to patches... the longest I quit was 7 months. Each time I quit I gained 20 lbs.

I've been quit now for going on 7 and a half months. I used Meridia to lose excess weight before I quit (15lbs) and used the patch starting at Step 2 and gained 30lbs. I have crested now, in cravings and in weight and am on the mend. I feel great and will never smoke again.

I know that "just one" will take all my success away. That will never happen.

Good luck with your attempt. Don't give up even if you fail. They say that it takes multiple times to quit to be success for most people.

These type of side effects are part of what I experienced too... try the patch... it helps to talk the edge off, but doesn't mess with you so much.

Try starting with the patch on step three instead of step 0ne...one and two would be nic overload if your a light smoker...aren't I a fountain of information the still smoking person that i am..truly matter of knowing what to do and not doing it...lol

Zyban in a potent anti-depressant...and it affects brain chemistry.....in a non-depressed individual it can trigger elevated mood..ie mild hypomania....it has also been known to trigger seizures in individuals who have never had seizures before.....just a bit of information....
