A FRIEND is someone who understands your past, believes in your future and accepts you today the way you are.

FRIENDS bring out the beautiful things in each other that no one else looks hard enough to find.

The best things in life are people we love, the places we've seen, and the memories we've made along the way.

Friends are good to have for fun times but as relationship counselors they suck.
They over react they will protect the person they are friends to they will degrade the partner of their friend they will convince and pressure their friend to cheat bye saying hey it will be alright the damn so and so deserves it and you need some fun.
They will support and even encourage demoralizing behaviorism when playing counselors.

However to go out with for a good time they can be good company as long as one doesn't weigh them down with all their problems.
if a person desires advice go see a pro who is being paid and has been educated that has no emotional attachment and truly help.

Perhaps I should have clarified my statement by saying:

What do you see a TRUE friend to be?

As for myself, I have been fortunate to have a few good friends that are very supportive and non judgmental.
I much rather have a few good friends, rather then numerous unworthy friends that speak on their both sides of their face.

I believe good friends to be people who see things objectively taken no sides given good solid positive heart felt advice when need be that never encourage evil behavior.
I see a good friend as a trusting soul that believes in the others intelligence allowing them to handle their own affairs without given even a word except for a pat on the back.
I see good friends as people who desire spending time in your yard or there's having a bbq enjoying each others company.
I see good friends as people who talk about anything and everything without the slightest judgment of the other sharing their opinions in that moment even it is so different than the others without a single thought of disapproval.
I could go on and on with what I see but what it boils down to is a friend is someone to feel safe being real with.

My close friends have been near me since 8 yrs old

I have alot of friends, but my oldest friends are special since we all were there beside each other hurdles, heartbreak, and when u thought u could not get throught another day Over 50 yrs of friendship and so many stories now that we can laugh about to-day

And when I travel oversea's we are all together

The recipe for a good friendship, to me is " tell them the truth, eventho it is not what they want to hear, if asked for advice do so, and if they do not take your advice "NEVER SAY I TOLD U SO" and stand by them!

Over 50 yrs of friendship with my friends, this worked for us and still works to this day!

I guess to me, it is all about being there , unconditionally......good and bad......tired or energetic.....all of the "stuff" of life....and sometimes listening to things over and over and over....just because they need to be shared... remembering and celebrating birthdays,,anniversaries...in special ways.....and remembering simple little things that are important

A true friend is never far from heart or thought even though they may be far in distance.U r both there for each other through good and bad,wether u agree with each other or not,u respect the other's right to their choices and stand by them(I mean in 'normal'situations if u get my meaning)
U can say as much to each other with silence and a look as u can with thousands of words.
U agree to disagree and never hold the other's opinion against them and fell free to say what they sometimes don't want to hear.
But mostly a true friend,loves u and accepts u for who u r and for me is a member of my 'family'.
