Someone who shots straight from there hip,no BS....
Someone who doesn't constantly BS, knows what they want in life & has a plan to get there.
To me Doug, a down to earth person is someone who you can talk to about serious situations and also have a light conversation with. A friend who doesn't judge either for or against you. Might even play the devil's advocate to help you to see the other side of a disagreement.
You can trust what they say to be their honest opinion and you don't have to agree neither. What you get from a 'down to earth' person is from their heart.

Down to earth to me has always ment REAL...in everyway...a firm grip on reality with an open and honest way of communicating...just easy to be with
it looks like Doug could mean "face down on the earth" which is sometimes how I end up too. Maybe you better clarify that Doug...
Face down to earth? That's a good one! LOL!People tell me I'm down-to-earth sometimes, when I ask why the response is usually, "you're realistic" or "you're logical", so that's what I always thought it meant. I've also heard that term means unsophisticated, though.

One thing that comes to mind for me when someone uses the term is, "Buddhism". Just because it's about being righteous with people and not getting caught up in worldly possesions! I think the world would be a better place if more people followed Buddhism. Just my opinion though!

I agree. I know lots of people who practice Buddhism and they are the most kindess people and down to earth people you would ever meet.
