Upon arriving at work this morning, I go directly to my favorite site and start reading all the stuff I missed this weekend.
Seems there was quite a bit of America bashing going on this weekend. Some people were bashing Chinese~Some people were bashing Germans. But mostly, there was quite a bit of U.S. "Haters".
I know there is a difference between America bashers and Bush bashers as one CS member put it. One person basically said (and I'm quoting LOOSELY here) "Bush is the reason terrorism has been escalating."
Well, all I have to say is:

1) The U.S. has always been tolerant of others religion and opinions.
2) The U.S. has always been first to help Tsunami victims, Earthquake victims & Victims of Wars-Regardless of race, creed or religion.
3) The U.S. doesn't censor it's peoples voice or opinions. Hell, you can even burn a flag in front of the White House!
4) Most U.S. citizens love European & Asian cultures. Most of us would never dream of thinking we were better than any of these people, though we may HAVE it better than some of you.

In conclusion, the basic "Gist" of this Thread is:

Who cares where you are from, what language you speak or what color your skin is? My heart is in the same place in my chest as yours. My blood is the same color red as yours. My eyes see the same beauty and evil of the world as yours do. And, deep down inside, we ALL know that we have been brothers and sisters since the beginning of time.......

I Love You All............hug

Important caveat you mentioned in your post...Bush HOPEFULLY does not represent the views of decent Americans.

I so hope this is the case.

America is generally a force for good my friend...but sometimes, your administrations f*ck it up...just a little.

I wasappalled by the anti-American sentiment present in the UK during the aftermath of 9/11...but once again, this is due to folk failing to distinguish between you as a people and the administration that represents you all.

Don't worry, you're not hated here.wine

Though he is our President........He doesn't represent every Americans opinion or voice.......I do not support a lot of his tactics and choices, but I do support the war........Have we so easily forgotten that two extremely large buildings were blown up on American soil? Have we so easily forgotten that almost 3,000 people died that day.(and they were not ALL Americans)...........

echo your thoughts mate

if you check round the forums you'll find that most of us Brits here are too busy poking fun at each other to go U.S. bashing and if we do slip up it's mostly in fun but you have to admit that successive U.S. governments down the years have got you in some tight
corners that have been difficult to get out of Korea,'Nam for example but how times have changed
In the 60s & 70s most of the American youth stood up against your own government
Now they're shouting to nuke Iran
I just wish we could all party together

cheers peace

I think maybe some people are feeling a bit sensitive because it is almost the anniversary of 9/11
and it is only natural that some would be feeling very patriotic as well as sad and angry.
I have stated over and over again that there is a big difference between anti bush and anti american.

From what I see here and elsewhere most Americans are nice decent people. My only complaint is that a lot of you seem to equate disagreement with enmity. A lot of the so-called "US-bashing" is just expressing a different point of view about world events and about what causes them.

I read posts here that disagree with US policy and I see Americans saying that the authors are "pink" or "red" or supporters of Osama or of terrorism....simply because they express a different, often thoughtful, point of view.

I read attacks on Michael Moore here (he's only a film-maker after all) which imply he is some kind of antichrist!! He mightn't be the most accurate guy in the world but denigrating him is an easy way out of dealing with the answers to the questions he asks.

Long live free speech!!!

I agree in principle to all you said...however I wish people would quit identifying 9-11 with the war in Iraq. Two seperate issues. One was..we were attackes by an Afghani sponsored terrorist group. The other was sipposedly over WMD's. But again, I agree with the end of your statement!peace

I knew I would have to do this..........

A few American PEOPLE protested the 10 commandment thing...Not the whole.

As far as the Mississippi thing......I take it you are referring to the Katrina aftermath?.......I think we have done more good than bad with that situation. I personally opened my home to people who were "bussed' in here from Houston.
I don't run FEMA.........Neither do the good hearted taxpayers that fund it.

And what a ticket you will get. air polution, burning with out a permet, littering. How knows, a fire could be called a weppon of mass destruction, <----I would rather get a ticket that be EXECUTED!

Well said and totally endorsed by most people here Im sure,
Australia, along with Britain and the other Allies remain
comitted to ensuring that our freedom and our way of life
is preserved.
Lets help others also and lets learn from the past that we
should endevour to work towards peace for all peoples,
that no one is better and no one forgotten.
Through 2 world wars we must have learned that sometimes,
just sometimes the fight has to be taken to people who would
have our beliefs and values challenged.
All countries, America included has made mistakes and all countries
leaders dont always act in the best interests of every voter, everytime.
But the alternative is worse.
To those who sit and criticise, who endlessly condemn Bush and or the US perhaps you would like to contribute.
Negative, boring jibes dont help anyone.
