Do you really want to know or care about what's in my headlaugh
Check back daily - for a new random thought.

Today I was driving home - along the side of a main street downtown - grassy strip - a guy was sleeping. Now this it's the first time I've seen this. The walk from work to my car takes me past a shelter and often I see people sleeping in the middle of a field or along the grassy side of the road.

If a person is homeless....the world becomes their home. Do they just lay down where ever they get tired, or are they exhausted from walking all day and can't go any further, I'm sure some of them just pass out.

I would think if I was in that position - I would find a park or other area not so out in the open. Maybe being in the open is safer than in the park?

I did it lots when I was younger. Yes the open is safer, and if ur lucky sometimes the cops will pick you up for lotiering. Which means a warm meal and a bed feer the night.

I hope you never have to do it again..how'd it happen that you had to sleep on the streets?

Good thoughts and sure you post those thoughts of yours. :o)

Good question regarding the choices of the homelesses finding their "spots"

The first thing that came to mind to me when I read your post was that these people are deprived of what we have such as food, shelter, and security. Hunger does affect one's mental state and I can imagine for what they go through on a daily basis that after awhile they can't think clearly and just don't realize their actions. Also maybe some just don't care or hope that someone will stumble upon them and help them in some sort of way? Just my thoughts of course.

And hope this does not come out wrong or causes a heated debate of some sort but I think its not fair how our country focuses more on the poor in other countries overseas and negelect our own homeless people. NOT saying nothing is being done or that I am not greatful and proud for our country being there for the other deprived countries but I think our politicians and we need to focus a lot more as well on those in our own country who suffer and are deprived.

Again just my own little thoughts :o)

I'm pretty sure I'll never have to go there again. Knock On Wood.

I was 11 when I left home, and lived on the streets till I was 18. Or where ever I could find a soft spot to sleep.

I agree with you Katine...there are so many homeless and others in situations that are beyond control. It would be nice to clean up our back yard first.

I know that there are some people that choose to live on the streets but there are many that have just had life go wrong and given the chance would change.

I think most people turn their head and pretend these people don't exist..Some are there by choic3e most aren't..mental illness..financially left behind..what a statement for one of the richest countries in the world..However we do have bullets for Afghanistan...places for immigrants...pisses me of when I hear a story to of how are great social concept called Canada has or had an 11 year old kid living on the streets,

I can't blame no one for the situation I was in. It was my choice. Same ol story, mother father split, broken home, blah blah blah.

But I do understand what your saying.

Met a young guy in his 20's when I went to Montreal. He had a tent,a packsack and his 2 dogs. Talked with him for a while and found him to be a really nice guy.He sets his tent up in the churgrounds at night and packs it up a daybreak. He's happy.
Here we have a section of unfinished highway that has underground tunnels, many young and old use it as their home.I have nothing bad to say about these people, what pushes my buttons though are the young kids who come from good homes in their designer 'punk' clothes who sit on the sidewalks asking for handouts.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry you had to go down that road V,but glad u made it out safe.hug wave

I think a common misconception is that people on the street, do not choose to be on the street. Many choose this as their life. A statement that they do not agree with and will not live in "the system".

When you step back, sometimes it seems that life would be so much simpler without "the system"...

dunno

New thought........woke up with this one.

If - when - you had someone you were sleeping with - did you hold hands at night. Sometimes spooning is not the right position for the night but did you seek out your partner just to be able to feel them...touch them?

confused not sure thats making sense....but I know you'll get it.

I'm thinkin holdin hands all night would be akward. But at least cuddled up next to each other to feel the warmth of each others bodies is kewl. Untill it gets way to hot and I climb on top of the covers lol.

Apperantly i tend to throw lots of heat when I sleep, so by morning I'm usally on top of the covers. I sleep with the window open all year round, and still sweat all night long,
