I do think it can work Trish although you have to be very careful, very clever and be able to think ahead of the bad ones.
I think the really hard part is getting to know someone who is far away, adequately enough to know them.
Otherwise it's a crap shoot and it's easy to get hurt.
I'd say follow your common sense and start as friends.
Make sure there is mutual attraction up front.
Without that, there's no chance.
Pay attention to red flags and don't be afraid to give someone the heave ho based on your gut reaction.

Love wether its online or IRL has no guarentees.
But yes its a lot more tricky online because you really don't get to know the person face to face and you never know who you could be dealing with.
But I do truly believe it can work. You just have to be more careful is all!

I have to say yes it can but it takes a lot of work if you are willing.
