Hi everyone, was just thinking about some old things Nana used to say. Would like to hear your old Texas sayings too. Her favs:

"I can talk the legs right off a chair"
"You're gonna have to get glad in the same pants you got mad in"
"I don't chew my cabbage twice"
"That dog won't hunt"

Sure you know some more. And remember, American by birth, Texan by the grace of God.

Here's one that I heard instead of oh well,

"as they say in Texas, Oil well!"

The ones that drive me nuts are the mixing up of done and did, or was and were. :)

"Worthless at teats on a boar hog."

"Not the brightest crayon in the box."

"Yeah, well they ARE Aggies." -derogatory

"My dog listens better than you do"/"My dog's smarter than you."

{Most of the rest are highly UN-PC, so that's all for now.}

Those are all great. My neighbor said her mama's sayings are:

A worm is the only animal that can't fall down. (When she was afraid to try something or do something new)

And of course - I who can forgot this classic: He's all hat and no cattle!

Love to hear more! Thanks.

My neighbor shared this one:

Busier than a cat trying to cover up crap on a marble floor.

Hi Lady - I'll see if I can work that into a conversation this week!

Does anyone know what this means? A friends boss used to say this "There's fixing to be a yellowjacket in the outhouse."

A lot of those have worked their way up to Hoosierland, with only slight modifications. They drive a point home in a somewhat subtle way...love them applause

Here's one a friend of mine said once, "Sharp as a bag of hammers."
He wasn't very bright.

No, your friend wasn't very bright -- a Texan might could even say:

The engine's runnin' but ain't nobody driving!

Some more:

Just cause a chicken has wings don't mean it can fly. Looks can be deceiving.

And one of my fav's: Stands out like a horse turd in a glass a' milk.

Love y'all!
