I know alot of people like RHPS...however I think the newer "version" of that is the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, entitled Once More With Feeling from Season 6....apparently many night viewings in public venues of this episode have been held...and people dress up and sing...ala RHPS....anyhow the company that made Buffy has now filed legal action and is now prohibiting these parties and use of this episode!!
Too bad..when I read this in the paper..I went back and re-watched that episode....really pretty brilliant I think Joss Whedon wrote all the songs...took me back a few years!!
At its peak, I thought it was surprisingly good. And I was kind of shocked that Whedon could write such good songs. Who does he think he is -- Andrew L. Webber? (actually, I think he compares respectably to Webber). Also, the premise was pretty clever for that show.

Ah, i used to work for the company that made the series and if i had a pound for every time someone asked me for a cardboard cutout that was of Ms Gellar i'd be a wealthy man!
Stangely the books are written by the same authors that also did various Star Trek and Sabrina the Teenage witch books!!
Feel free to ask because i have piles of them in the house!!
I shouldn't admit this but...I remember the episode and it is one of my favorites. The idea came about one night while the cast was at a Kareoke Bar and the producer realized that they can actually sing! He pulled the script out of a drawer where it had been for awhile and put it into production....
...or so a female friend of mine told me.
And RHPS was supposed to be campy and a spoof. Buffy, not so much.
