Well its January 3rd, 2008 ........ and our little guy is growing like a weed. Has 2 teeth now and is already starting to try to talk at 8 1/2 months old. Called the dog a "kitty" today! lol .......... he's tearing around the house now ....... getting into everything.
Everyone loved him when he went to see Santa in his own little Santa suit ........ he was quite the charmer and enjoyed every moment of the attention. I'm quite enjoying watching him grow and learn - funny how the powers of observation seem so much more important to me now ....... I can observe him discovering and learning so much more than when I had my daughter ................ guess its because I'm not so tired or perhaps I've forgotten as its been so many years.
Seeing him discover "dropping things" .... or making sounds ............ seems so simple, but everything is new to him. He's very keen about the wind and trying to get outside ...... I'll be happy when spring arrives and he can go exploring.
Stopped by and saw my 16 mo. old grandaughter on the way home from work. She's not usually a "hugger"...but she was in a great mood and gave papaw a hug and said "papaw, bye bye" as I left.

Awwww, I can't wait till mine is born. 3 months left, granddaughter is due April 6th. I'm soooo excited, way more than my daughter is, course she's the one who'd going to have to get woke up in the middle of the night.
Well, its been a few months since I posted to this thread .......... and I'm thinking I'm glad I started this .... because its cool to be able to look back and read about the progress my grandson is making. He's already just over 1 year old (13 months) and he's quite the little monkey! lol
He's into everything - only twice as fast as before because he's now walking. He's got a little temper too when he doesn't get his way and has the drama down just like mom and dad! Throws himself on the floor and cries (its hard not to laugh because its only for a few seconds and then he's off doing something else!).
He loves being outside and enjoys interacting with the other kids at the playground - its wonderful to watch him discover new thing like dirt, flowers, the grass, etc.
He's giving kisses (albeit a little wet) .... lol and cheers when its bath time. He loves the water and I think more water is outside the tub then in.
Not into talking yet - this surprises me - but he's certainly makes a lot of noises. Plays with his cars imitates the sounds of the engine.
I'd post a picture but I still need to figure out how to do this!
shipoker55: I sure wish I could have seen my grand children grow up. Now I am a great grand father...and I'll miss out on that, too
Sometimes life doesn't turn out the way that we desire or would wish on anyone. Our little guy is missing out on both mom and dad - because of their self-destructive choices. All I pray is that one day they will both realize what they are missing out on and start their lives on a new path before its too late. I sometimes wish with all my heart that drugs/alcohol were never discovered. Its destroyed too many lives and families.
