That's horrible. But you hear about that happening.
One can only hope that the person you meet has their affairs (divorced, separated, psycho ex, etc.) in order, or at least is honest about it.
Whenever I meet someone (typically with the frequency of Haley's Comet coming around), I want them to be as comfortable as possible. I'd often seek their preference as to where - it's not that I'm lacking ideas, but again, it is what is most comfortable for them.
