Do you believe child welfare has the right to remove babies because the mother has a disability?

My daughter had her son removed right from the hospital because they believed she would not be able to take care of him. She proved them wrong and got him back when he was 18 months old.

She had failed the first parent assessement that is why they keep him but then she paid to have another one done and that time she passed. How can you pass a parent assessement when you have not been a parent yet. You learn as you go along.

Well, I guess it depends on what they expect her to know....If its things like how often do you feed a baby, what to do if he/she chokes, who to call for an emergency, and things like that....if she didnt know and they were that kind of questions then yes, I think they did the right thing. If they were questions like what do you put on diaper rash, how often should you change the diaper...things that do not have a definite answer...then no...I dont agree!

I do happen to think that MOST of the time they wont take a child away for something simple, but This could be one of the times they did.dunno

I am not talking about someone who you know by the way they are that they would not be able to take care of a baby. My oldest daughter has brain damage and I know that if she ever had a baby she would not be able to care for it.

My daughter was diagnosed with bi-polor when she was very young. Now the doctors say she just has extreme anixity disorder.

The parent assesment was like at what age should a child be tolit trained?
