Hi there.
First try at a forum post but I thought what the heck?
My 16 year old daughter has been diagnosed with alopecia. (White blood cells treat her hair follicles as a disease and kill them which results in partial or total baldness) She tries very hard to be strong about it but sometimes after a shower she will come out crying because it is falling out by the handful.
Has anyone heard of any alternative treatments for this? We have tried cortisone shots and been to a naturopath but nothing seems to be helping.
Breaks my heart to see her upset and know there is nothing I can do about it. We try to hold on to the fact that it could be something much worse so we're lucky but?????

Trying to make some fun out of situation that is not funny.
People at school are starting to notice now it's getting so bad, thankfully the kids at the school she's at seem to be fairly supportive.

My heart goes out to you. Though not life threatening to a girl especially one this age it could be devastating. It's so hard to watch our children go through something we have no control over. Best of luck.
