This time of year is always a bit stressy for me, the cash crunch, no time for anything! But I am always looking for an interesting gift for my boys ages 12 and 9 if you have any suggestions?

I am not stressed out except my daughter keeps buying what I was going to get her for Christmas so I have to keep thinking of something else.

She wanted Melrose Place- went and bought all 3 seasons
wanted a new sweater- went and bought 2 of them
wanted new pants- went and bought 2 pairs

now I have to come up with something she will not go and getdunno

suggestion...if she keeps doing that, wait until after Christmas then you can get her what she really needs, because then she will be complaining about what she doesn't have...laugh laugh

Hey Scott

I have twin nephews, amungst the 10 in total that I DO have, and at christmas, I either get them something having to do with skateboarding...(hoodie, runners, etc) OR I get them something having to do with the Toronto Maple Losers...lol, er I mean LEAFS.........It can be gloves, hat, scarf, memorbilia, little statues, figurines, whatever applys to the leafs.....

I usually find out what they are really into and then, take it from there....and if all else fails, I get them gift certificates to HMV, a clothing store (cr@p, cannot think of that skateboarding place right now...something 44 or 34...lol) OR I get them a few dvd's.....

if all else fails......moeny is a FOR SURE win!

thumbs up

Hey Kitty

why don't you get her a pedicure and manicure....

regardless that she may have got one already, they are always useful, can be used anytime of the year and it's a pampering thought....just letting her know that you gave her a pampering day....

My neices are 16, 19 and 26.......for christmas, I now get them just that....a day at the 'spa"..........and add in some bath stuff in a basket.....

they LOVE it and I am sure your daugther will too!

Great Ideas Thank You!

Especially the skateboard stuff! West49 is the store I think you are talking about!
The kids love the Guitar Hero game too (go figure?) and so an extra controller so they can "jam" is something I think Santa may leave here next to a tv???~!!

...they have both been very good, and I have too!

The commercialization of Christmas is ridiculous, it's worse than I remember as a child, anyhow...I talk a lot with my kids about the REAL meaning of Christmas, as I see it-togetherness, love, peace, forgiveness.
I don't want them to think of this season as "present time". I talk about what I am grateful for as well, and look forward to a fresh start in teh new year.

That being said, you still gotta buy the presents! To the man who is looking for presents for his 12 and 9 year old, I have a 12 and 8 year old, and some of the things I got, a roboraptor and robosapien, the robosapien is wicked cool, it has articulated digits and picks up stuff and throws it! Wal-mart has some reasonably priced mp3 players too. I also found some super inexpensive but still good quality digital cameras.5 megapixels, with a 16 mb internal memory (you buy a larger memory card separatly) I found them at Pharma-Plus of all places! The Source has super comfortable ear buds too, I find the regular ear buds hurt my kids ears.
