I do agree with you, but to comfort the Americans, it isn't better on French sites either... I think foreigners take special care not to make mistakes, but when it comes to writing in your own language, you write faster and don't make the effort to check on mistakes... Could that be it?
With the majority here using english as their first language there is the expectation that others will be able decipher our intent, inspite of our mistakes. This is of course more difficult for, and inconsiderate of, those not using their first language here.
