I have a full social life here in Spain, (unfortunately that will change when I return to work in Russia!) and thankfully still manage to have dates in the real world so it's not really an issue for me.

I agree with you.....there's no ideal match on Cs...and not even just friends
Frankly, not even out there in the real world would there ever be the ideal person, it would be terrifying to find out that a clone of my thoughts and personality does exist - it's like a scary movie where the image in my mirror is actually alive 
So expecting the ideal person over CS is now even much more demanding.
I'd say yes, people meet in places where they would have never expected they will, only if they leave such option open.
I've been here for over a year, nearly since the beginning of CS Malta, at times it is frustrating to chat and email someone interesting but then that someone gets out of touch, or else we meet up and realise we're not that much compatible.
I remember one of thos 1990's commercial songs by Scooter - How Much Is The Fish.
The best part of the lyric says it - The chase is better than the catch.
We're having fun here anyway, meeting new friends, chatting, browsing profiles and getting to know each ther. So I guess we're not alone.
