Hi I seem to get quite a lot of these 'friends request' s but i do not know these people. Are you suppose to go through this process if you want to become friends with someone on this site. I am sort of new to this whole thing so my understanding is that if a guy liked a girl he would send her a flower or he may email an introductory email.
Then the lady would be able to have a look at his profile and if she found him interesting she would flower back or email a return response. So guess i am sort of confused at the friend request, especially if you have not spoken before.

Also at the risk of sounding like too much of a softie, but am struggling with writing 'thanks but no thanks' is it ok to put on your profile that if i dont email you back you are not my type or something similar? Or would that be rude? lips

Being very new I would have thought a "friends request" would be the least "aggresive" for want of a better word, way to approach someone you thought was interesting or that you wanted to get to know.
Put in a real life type situation I would think sending some one flowers you have never met might be a bit over the top, and a email out of the blue a little odd.
A friendly, hey how are you, care to chat friend request seems like the first greeting of two strangers.

As I said Im new, so just my thoughts.

think I understand what your saying, well some people just want to make friends,

Some want to start off as friends.....

I don't think it is rude if you tell a person you don't think there is no connection,

I read profiles and if I don't feel the match or any hope there might be one I say politely I don't think your profile description meets with mine..

I think you should say it how ya want, least with me then I see the persons personality and if it stinks I'm better of....
