The last person I im'd seemed to be a friend and just turned out to be a scammer. Don't use it anymore.

We have posted this before but will post it here again for your info:

You WILL see who is Iming you - IF you have POPUPS ENABLED for this site.

Here’s how the IM works:

a) If you have POPUPS ENABLED:
When someone IMs you, it will popup a window WITH the MEMBER’S NAME AND PHOTO on it.
-If you DO WANT to IM them, type a message.
-If you DO NOT WANT to IM them, simply CLOSE the window.

b) If you have POPUPS DISABLED:
When someone IMs you, the window will NOT be able to popup automatically since you've DISABLED popups, so you will NOT immediately see who is IMing you.
So with popups DISABLED, a small grey window will scroll across your screen asking you if you want to accept,
If you click the "yes" link, it WILL popup the window that would have been popped up automatically if you had enabled popups.
Then at that point you WILL see who is IMing you and you can close the window if you want to.

If you get the same IM request twice, it likely means the member thought you did not receive their first request. The easiest solution to this would be to quickly type a respectful, ‘thanks but no thanks’ and then close the window. One would think that the potential for meeting someone special would outweigh the risk of the small inconvenience of turning someone down this way.

The IM does work if you have the 3 requirements (Popups enabled, Flash 9 installed, JavaScript enabled). Onsite mail, chat and IM are provided free to protect your privacy and anonymity. Using them you can start getting to know someone onsite without giving out your personal offsite email or IM address.

Please Note: you MUST have the latest version – FLASH 9 installed for the chat/IM to work.
If you don’t have Flash 9, you need to upgrade in order to use the chat or IM.

BLOCKING: To Block a member from IMing you, open an incoming MAIL message from them and click on “Block this Member” below their message. They will appear on your Blocked List and will no longer be able to send you an IM, mail or flowers.

I use it periodically....but now that I am involved, I guess I won't be using it much or even at all.
