I work with Americans and have been to the States many times......they really like the British accent, our country and 'us' in general. They find more of a negative attitude towards them here than the other way round & i must say i've heard/seen it. I think that they're just people like us with good & bad of both.Their manners are generally better than ours although but again you get good/bad with either. When i visited North Carolina i did get asked by 2 different people 'was i British or Australian!?? DOH!!
gillyloves69: tell the truth now !...don't be shy ! .whats the difference between our two cultures attitudes hospitalities and lifestyles ?
what cities counties or states have you visited ?...what made you decide to visit ?...and what did you really think of the place ?

I had the same thing when I was in New Hampshire.......people asking me if I was Australian. Our accent is more defined than aussies so I found that a bit funny....unless they have never watched Neighbours or Prisoner in cell block H.
Generally they seem to have more manners and are usually more polite on a day to day basis. Trouble is, they have terrible eating habits and my friends there, Karole and Peter could eat me under the table. America is a country with 4 million obese people and with the company I kept out there it's not hard to understand why.
Not sure if I could live there as I am used to my Britishness so to speak but I wouldn't dismiss the idea entirely. It has been great though every time i've been out there, so a big thumbs up from me.

When I was in England before, I was all over.
I LOVE England. I think it is such a beautiful country. The architecture is absolutely amazing and the countryside is breathtaking. Plus, giggle, the accent just really sends me.
The concept of the royal family is so romantic but Im sure it is a bummer to have to pay extra taxes to support them.
The British are so charming though some can be brutually honest. What I love are the old world manners but they are not chauvanistic about it. Here American men who have old fashion manners tend to be chauvanists.
I'm going back to England next month for vacation and I can hardly wait. When I was married I wanted to spend my honeymoon in England but we ended up in Hawaii instead. oh well. Maybe my next marriage.

To the British!
Nothing wrong with us Brits! Well some of us anyway
Each to their own, everyone has different preferences on what they like to do/go etc................
Thought I'd check this out. I hope to visit UK later this year . I plan on adoring everything, totally, completely. A friend who visited a while back said you Brits are trying to abolish all the things you're known for; hereditary titles, foxhunting, The Queen. I'm hoping she is mistaken. I love you just as you are. I am a little worried about anti- American sentiment. Over here comedians tell Americans to pretend they're Canadians if they want to get on in Europe. At the very least, we're considered provincial for only speaking English. Doesn't anyone look at the globe? It's a huge country over here. We have to go much further to practice another language. No fair!
