When I was training to be a Heavy Goods Driver we were told there,s only one acceptable level, zero.

Personally I,ll go out three, four times a week. Usually drink one glass of Fino (Tio Pepe) though I prefer Manzanilla (softer version from San Lucar de Barrameda). Only problem is I love Fino, but it don,t love me.
Alternatively I,ll have a glass of Rioja.

Over here in Spain there are many small brands not available countrywide. Some bodegas may only make a few thousand bottles a year. One I came across in Extremadura a couple of years ago was from the Ruiz bodega in Cañamero. As far as I am aware, out side of the town you can only get it by mail order, and only if you order 250 euros worth. Tell you what Wedward, go for it, it,s superb, almost black in colour, very strong body and high alcohol content. You,ll be half pissed on just two glasses, but what a taste! Wonderful. And whilst you are about it ask them to send you some chocolate covered figs (breves) they are excellent too.wine

I mostly go out with the family for dinners - and then its because they need a "designated driver" for the return trip! .... So then I dont have any alcohol at all - with the great responsibility of driving everyone home.

If I go out to another town with a friend for dinner, then we limit ourselves to one drink - and then decide who is gonna do the driving home ..... the drinker can then have another two ... the "loser" gets to drink water! I`ve found its actually much more fun to be the "loser", cause as long as one has a glass to hand - one can act as stupid as you like and you get forgiven cause the others think you drunk! (you get judged by Their standard!) and you got no hangover the next day too!

In SA I had a very glamorous work colleague, and when we went out she`d make straight for the barman and arrange for any drinks for her to be lime water and ice, but charged (to the guys who bought them for her) as vodka & lime - barman to pocket the proceeds. She`d weave her spells, sing songs, act outrageous, dance on the bar-counter, stagger out to her car glass in hand .... and drive herself home ... stone sober! Most people thought her a terrible drunkard!
