Here's a moot point...it is well known that Americans pay very little for gas (oil) and it has been said that any President knows that to remain President he must at all costs maintain low prices for gas.Any President who allows the price of filling the tank to go up will not be President for very long. To keep the price low they need an endless supply, hence the need to access other contries oil production.
Taking a wider perspective, America tries to rule the (productive) world because it is in their interest to do so in order to maintain its own at home lifestyle, good living at a low cost. To do this America has to be friends with other countries, countries who may well be,due to their own agenda, sworn enemies to each other. This is some conjuring trick America has to somehow perform, and not surprisingly they often get it wrong, sometimes to its own cost.I am not anti American, quite neutral in fact, although I do view America like lots of folks with mixed feelings.
However, I do feel that the main players in this situation,the middle east, really need to get their heads together and sort this out for themselves, without American influence. Those nations really do need to work together for the good of all.Their is a middle ground here, all they need is the desire to take it.
Another night out, I commented that another person, female, waiting in the same queue for a restaurant table, had a very pretty face. I was immediately told off (by my other daughter) for being a perve, which I aint, not by a long stretch.
She then added insult to injury by claiming that their mother didn't go round eyeing up blokes.I said nothing til we got home then pulled her to one side and very strongly told her to never ever compare me with her mother on moral grounds since her mother not only eyed up other blokes but also broke up a twenty year marriage with her extra marital affairs, which all my kids already knew about.
Again I've been frozen out,no contact. I guess I ought to have bit my lip and accepted the comments with a pinch of salt,but it did annoy me immensly to be compared in that way. Again,a duplictous attitude, mum can screw the whole damn world whilst still married to dad and bring our whole world crashing down, but single dad can't openly admire a pretty face.Really all I said was " hey look, that lady has got a really pretty face".
Again, I guess it's because it's dad,even the slightest hint that dad might actually have any appreciation of females, even if it's just a pretty face, it just aint on.
.....I guess I know the answer already, but anyway here goes.
During a visit this year I went out with my offspring, two of whom were making lewd jokes at my expense. No probs, I just proffered a lewd comment of my own, not against them you understand, but very much in keeping with the content of the other comments that were being made.And no it wasn't obscene nor using sweary words. Anyway, my daughter snapped and bit my head off, said I'd crossed the line and it ruined the whole night, she just froze me right out of the conversation. In fact, I diplomatically claimed to be tired and went back home, really just didn't want to be responsible for messing up everybody else's night out. She has not spoken to me since even though I apologised, but I pointed out that what they had said was ten times more offensive, especially as it was directed at me personally.
Now, casually visiting a certain social networking site I see the most disgusting and vile banter between her and her friends (re certain body fluids and male and femal body parts)in a very public forum. Of course, she knows I have access to this site, we used to communicate through it.And she knows that I have some very good friends on the same site, mature people,who would be equally disgusted by the banter.
Two things, I know I should just ignore this lack of social maturity, but I am appalled that she she could take such offence with me yet be so publicly offensive elsewhere.
I know, it wasn't so much what I said, it was the fact that it was coming from me,her dad.I still think such a duplicitous attitude is a bit rich.
I am not asking for advice,so please do not feel the need to give it, but equally feel free to do so if you wish. I will just ignore it and I am not chasing after her, if and when she wants to speak to me she will, I guess.

Clearly it is something which has upset you a great deal, relating to it as both a female and a fellow national. And I think every normal person here understands that. But this the main internet opening page. What's more when I am using my hotmail account about one third of the mail, all down the right hand side, is advertising which prevents me from reading that ird of my emails. Sure there is a simple solution.

They intrude so much into the space it is almost impossible for me to position the the cursor so that I do not click on their stupid ad. Any way I can get rid of this very irritating thing. BTW I used to feel positive about the Merceds brand, now they just piss me off by putting themselves right in my face uninvited.

Yeah, the re-learning was a bit of a curveball when it first happened. I remember reading Tess decades ago and never since, til one day I had a student studying it as a prescribed text. It was like reading a different book, but the same.All my post first reading life experiences came into play and made me feel totally different, or it was more relavent to my life, compared to the first reading.So get re-reading guys an gals and enjoy.
Wow lots....The Jungle, The Great Gatsby, The Love of Worker Bees, Native Son, Catcher in the Rye, The Heart of Darkness, Tess of the D'Urbevilles, The Green Mile....got hundreds of books and so could list a lot more. Books are one of my refuges from the world and places I visit and revisit for pleasure and to learn and relearn.
I stopped sending mail when I realised it was going down dark alleys to dend ends...people playing on line love, scammers, unrealistic time wasters,etc....and I reckon the good guys and gals are tired of RECEIVING mail from the same sort of people...so the good guys and gals tend not to use it for sending or recvng and all for pretty muchg the same reasons.

Well the big night out I had was truly great, though I had a swine of a hangover yesterday, too much wine. Anyway it was worth it. Still up and trying to stay up, despite the fact that the loss of my business was confirmed today by the client. Represents a fifty percent loss of earnings, pretty bad. But even worse today I have to tell three employees that they are out of a job, as well as a host of suppliers that they have lost an important client.I feel worse for them than I do for me. Never mind, onward and upward, trying to see it in a positive light, hoping it frees me up to do something even more beneficial.Another day, another chapter
The Spanish medical profession and Department of Health reccommend you drink two litres of water a day,which equates more or less to the amount mentioned earlier.
Also I take issue with the idea that cold water solidifies grease and fat (in the pan)not so.
Fraid this whole idea sounds like a load of bunk invented by scaremongers who got bored walking the streets with The End Is Nigh posters.
I know not all women are the same,I some really fantastic women,but they are spoken for,makes sense.Maybe sometimes there's a reason that the ones not spoken for are not spoken for.
