hi all does anyone know if i can get my 3 kids aged 17 16 and 9 screened for cancer as there dad has just found out he has it his mum and dad died from cancer 2 yrs ago and also my granparents died from the dreadfull disease to any feedback would be fab xx

aaawwww so sorry hun,if there is family history of same cancer ,then yes you can have children checked,depends on which cancers so speak to ya doc

You can get them checked today but that does not screen for tomorrow. Cancer is often caused by habits such as smoking or consuming foods with various chemicals.
Cancer is not heridical but threw nurture.

I have had several relatives on bothe sides of my family who died WITH cancer and none were hereditary

BUT - Please read what this MacMillan site says at the top and in the text about Hereditary Cancer



It is however well worth contacting your GP and insisting on getting the kids screened if it is worrying you.

The fact is that less than 10% of Cancers have been linked to genetic inheritance.
