If you were planning a holiday or a day trip to somewhere, what would be the first things you would ask to see that the town had?

Would you make sure there were wineries? beaches? what?

I am going to Gladstone very soon, and I used to live there for 2 years so I took everything for granted and never really took in the breathtaking views, or went on a boat harbour cruise etc, so while I am there this time, I will be kid free for some of the time so I intend on seeing things that I wouldn't have normally.

What things would you like to see/do when in another town?

Hi Lou, I would look on the net for things to do around the place. We all know they always have a pub and at least good dining place so more the georgraphical attractions. Also if it has boat trips etc. and if they still operate during cooler months and the times during the week they leave. I am possibly sounding boring but I enjoy markets, antique shops, galleries and museums. Then a nice red on the blalcony to watch the sun set while listening to the ocean.

See THAT, is what I want to do!!

This is why I threw out the question. I used to live there, as I mentioned, so pubs/clubs I have done. However, they have changed and new ones opened, so I wil definately have an after noon at them. I have never been to the gallery there so that is a thing to do!

Markets are every month so will suss out when the next one is. I ventured to the market last time I was there and bought lots of stuff.

Thanks for replies. There is also a winery there that I went to many years ago before I got into wine so I didn't really enjoy the tastings etc.. will do this now on this trip.

Ahhh so many things.. I can't wait! I have googled the city and found a few things, I just need to find me a date as I am going to a friends 30th and my invite says Lou and Date, in the hope I might actually find and bring one!rolling on the floor laughing .. I will keep hunting for one!.. anyone free on the 20th June?cheers

Hey cutypie, australia is so diverse with landscape. We have desert treks as well as the lushness of rainforests. Probably not as wonderfully green as New Zealand but our uniqueness makes up for it. The daintree I highly recommend if you are after greenery. Watch the crocs though.
