RobbieM: Well i went into hospital as a result of what i hough was an incredible peice of bad luck in that somehow i managed to split a nerve cluster that is painful that will cause you to collapse.

In martial arts or military terms its whats described as the "sweetspot" as id you hit that point well its a cripple blow or a kill with a knife.

Now i just happened to manage to damage this in my sleep? Anyway i know the science of it and went to the hospital and explained to them and the pain and shutting down of your chest cavity on one side is what i would sort of expect.

Basically xray showed nothing wrong with my lungs though i couldnt breath or stand easily, they sent me home saying rest and take paracetemol!!!!!!!!

So i rested for a month or more and then abruptly went downhill massively after the 18th may, like a nosedive. by the sunday i was puking blood and lung tissue and the morphine based painkillers i got from the docs that friday became innefective.

That coupled with a legal thing on the sunday eveneing meant i couldnt get medical treatment without first getting some info to solicitor/message to my son/goodbyes to people tat sort of thing and then handed the info to my cousin tuesday evening.Only after i did all that could i risk getting medical tratment and me dying or not in the hospital. In all honesty i thought i would be dead before this weekend my halth dropped throug the floor that fast.

As for why i dont know yet, but thats still being investigated. Is that enough info? Would you like my blood oxygen levels?

That i never had done before from an area on your wrist under your thumb, quite painfull......anywhere else in an arm isnt that bad and i feel like a pin cushion.
Sorry, not meaning to be overly curious...I don't know much about illnesses...I thought people who got pnuemonia were elderly or ill in some other way...weakened immune systems...this sounds like a series of a lot of bad luck....hope it works out well for you soon...hug comfort thumbs up

that's a common misconception..pnuemonia can hhit a healthy person and at any age ..there are over 200 different types of pnuemonia and only less than a hundred that are common..there is no way of knowing how one is comprimised and it had nothing to do with a weakend immune system ..it can start as a cold or the flu and turn into pnuemonia in the blink of an eye..it affects more bodily systems than just the lungs..i had it when i was 35 yrs old ...was never sick a day in my life..so being elderly or ill to acquiring pnuemonia is a common misconception...and it can be deadly..
Jim Henson the muppeteer who created the muppets and fragglerock died from a rare form of pnuemonia in 1993...not all forms have treatments available ..it IS a very serious illness.....

Yes or they live in terrible conditions and perhaps the environment was damp and then freezing.

I dont present many symptoms of pneumonia but im being treated for it, id have confessed to being willy wonka if it would have got me broad spectrum antibiotics and a series of blood tests run.

In 2 weeks ill be xrayed and prodded and poked to see how im getting along, well go from there but unlucky is an understatement!!!!

I know why now how pneumonia kills the infirm fast!!!

dont I know it....my daughter had a cough one night and the next morning started to complain of backache.....I sent her back to bed to rest and by lunchtime she was vomiting...I took her to A&E and she was admitted because the docs thought she had a bad chest infection...they took the routine blood tests and about an hour later all hell let loose....the came running from everywhere...she had pnuemonia and septicemia.....and only the day before she had been swimming and horseriding and seemed perfectly well..she was 11 at the time....thank God she came through it unscathed and her lungs are perfectly healthy.....it came from nowhere and is extremely scary and I am soooo glad I got her to hospital when I did...she didnt even have a cold....and nobody could explain why it happened......blues

when your lungs fill up with fluid, there is no place for the fluid to go, so it starts to dump into your heart.

I cound belive what it did to me in 5 days, from healthy to a funny feeling in the chest in 3 day, by day 5 i needed morphine based painkillers, by sunday night i was throwing up lung tissue and thick blood, and clotted blood!!

Anyone who gets this wont forget it, i was lucky i survived!!! And my immune system is now at rock bottom!!

I'm going to have to completely replan my life if this doesnt go away in a few weeks, ets say that.

If id been a smoker or drinker or drug user i wouldnt have lasted that far.

In the form the elderly get they die in a few days and their system crashes!!

See who says we cant learn something on CS,,,,,rolling on the floor laughing

comfort It has amazing effects on your system. If you have read my blog, then you would know that I understand what you are talking about. I didn't have pneumonia per say, but did end up having pulminary edema the first time, which ends up basically the same way. You got a long time of recouperating ahead of you kiddo...teddybear

that's the way they explained it to me in the hospital, whatever it does, it will kill your heart with the fluid if not caught in time.teddybear ie congestive heart failure.......

I quit investigating it on the web because there is so much misinformation out there. When I found out that I didn't have it, I was relieved, but then again, I gotta be careful what antibiotics I take as they say every bout of anaplylaxis is twice as worse as the last one.

Personally, I'd prefer to forget about it. I don't know all the terminology and reasons behind a lot of the stuff, just what I've been told. What I do know is that I have one he** of a hospital bill from the last time. That is in black and white, no debate on that one....roll eyes
