I think the real me is known only by a very few, long term, close friends...I would like to say my mother or father, but neither of them ever had a clue, mores the pity. I am sometimes very protective of my inner workings, and sometimes not so much, depends on the person I'm with or the situation...I am, as I get older, learning to open up more, in certain ways. Certainly, I believe, that if you are looking for a real relationship, a complete relationship, the person who will be your partner should know the real you as much as possible...that means both opening up and letting that person know you and finding a person who can see and understand who you are.
I imagine even old Horace was not laughing all the time. Life is a tragedy, a comedy, a drama, a farce, and most of all simply profound. There are great joys in life and great sorrows....so I don' think even the person who mostly 'feels' is finding life a tragedy throughout.
