Shopping

ha ha.... this is it...a day of shopping...I have been on these trips often, actually, because girlfriends want to do this...shop, lunch, etc. One recent time I did this, I realized I was the only one who actually took anything home...that's because I only went on the shopping trip because I needed a few things...the others went for fun only and were fine about spending half the day shopping w/o actually buying anything. Lunch with friends is nice. I really, really hate malls though.... grrrrrrr.....

Shopping

I think I'm referring to the entertainment type of shopping...probably not food, unless it is maybe like farmer's markets, fun food shopping...that can be okay now and then, but I wouldn't do it regularly....There's a really nice farmer's market here, people go for fun, lots of tourists, etc. I went once...it's okay, but not a regular entertainment thing for me.

The other kind of shopping...not really sure...some people, even couples, go shopping regularly....clothes, household items, cars, etc....not really sure what they are buying...anything and everything I guess...And there seems to be lots of just looking and not buying involved in 'shopping.' Don't get that at all. If I go shopping, it is because I need something....why on earth would I come home empty handed?

When did shopping become a sport, pastime, entertainment, etc.????

I hate shopping, hate malls. That's just me. I go shopping when I need something.....I go, find what I want/need as soon as possible, make quick decisions, and then I'm done and ready to actually go off and live my life again.

That's me.

Others love shopping and actually do it for fun...
Don't get that.....but I'm not judging....if you like it you like it....

The question here is are you a shopper or are you not? Explain yourself, please! What is good about shopping or what is not so good about it?

I don't think I live by any 'rules.' I haven't make a list of what I thinki is right or wrong, good or bad behavior, not even in my head. Yet, I do have my own set of ethics by which I live, though they are not articulated .... I think they are pretty simple, and pretty basic....I suppose the first one is to be a 'decent' human being--treat others kindly, fairly and equally. Treat the world, the environment, animals and plant life kindly, fairly, reasonably. Be open minded, thoughtful, learned, aware. What I dislike in another's behavior is meanness...anytime someone is mean, purposefully mean, I have no respect or liking for that person. I have just realized how much I dislike liars...have no patience for them at all. There is a person where I work now who lies all the time about everything...pathological I guess....I have absolutely no patience in for this person...Her lies have nothing to do with me, are not done to hurt anyone, she just lies about everything, so you never know what is true and what isn't...and I just think what's the point in even talking to this person? Lying, meanness...top of my list for what is not a way to live. Kindness, reason, fairness, personal integrity....ethics by which to live.

I don't have a simple answer to this....it isn't just one thing and it certainly isn't stuff like roses or candy or a candlelight dinner, a walk on the beach, etc.

It is who he is...the man he is...someone I can like, admire, respect, there are just so many things that go into it...

Well there is happy crying too....I don't quite understand it...guess it is just being overcome with emotion...

But, I'm not buttering you up....you know that is the kind of thinking I admire...Walt Whitman---rugged individualism...gonna give you guys up north a break and say this kind of thinking--American rugged individualism--doesn't just apply to those below the border...ha ha!! Well, except for escaping the clutches of British Imperialsm...we did it a lot sooner....

I'm thinking of simply the literal definition: To utter lamentations; to lament audibly; to express pain, grief, or distress, by weeping and sobbing.

I, myself, cry seldom. I have had to be 'in control' because, though female, I've had to take care of myself and my life completely...life is tough and crying anytime you are struggling doesn't get you anywhere. But I do cry occasionally...usually such episodes are months and months apart and almost always when I am alone because I don't want any witnesses...so in this sense, I may be more like a man. However, as Kid has said above, crying is a human thing...any human being who doesn't ever cry is not expressing a natural human emotion....whatever the cause.
