Acceptance - Accept people for who they are, not who you want them to be. Accept that there will always be bumps in the path of your journey that we may stumble on, but we don't need to fall, if we do dust yourself off and try again.
Failure - The only true failure in life is the failure to try!
Life - Live it...Don't regret the past, yet don't shut the door on it. It has made you who you are and if nothing else you may have learned something along the way. Do everything that you possibly can today, because you may not have a tomorrow.
Most of all...Just be yourself and people will either love you or hate you. The ones that hate you are the jealous ones because they haven't learned to be able to be themselves and don't like who they are.
sillyricky55: What are some of the things or rules you live by?
Uncommon valor is a common virtue- Go way beyond yourself to help others no matter what.
Faith- Stepping out even though you don't see the whole staircase.
Humility is like a diamond waiting to be polished- accept someone for who they are and don't be afraid to see their viewpoint.
Honor is like a Sapphire which shines bright- put your honor above all else and believe in and make right choices.
Remember that someone is watching you and you may not even know it.
Always place your best foot forward.
Someone will see your worth in the words you use. Choose them wisely.
Make a mistake, say you are sorry and miove on. This by far is the toughest thing to do.
These are some of the things I live by and they work for me. Anybody got anything they could add here?
I don't think I live by any 'rules.' I haven't make a list of what I thinki is right or wrong, good or bad behavior, not even in my head. Yet, I do have my own set of ethics by which I live, though they are not articulated .... I think they are pretty simple, and pretty basic....I suppose the first one is to be a 'decent' human being--treat others kindly, fairly and equally. Treat the world, the environment, animals and plant life kindly, fairly, reasonably. Be open minded, thoughtful, learned, aware. What I dislike in another's behavior is meanness...anytime someone is mean, purposefully mean, I have no respect or liking for that person. I have just realized how much I dislike liars...have no patience for them at all. There is a person where I work now who lies all the time about everything...pathological I guess....I have absolutely no patience in for this person...Her lies have nothing to do with me, are not done to hurt anyone, she just lies about everything, so you never know what is true and what isn't...and I just think what's the point in even talking to this person? Lying, meanness...top of my list for what is not a way to live. Kindness, reason, fairness, personal integrity....ethics by which to live.

These sound like a soldiers pledge somehow, Ricky. Soldiers are a special breed of people that I admire very much. I also appreciate the personal values that they often live by.
