I was just wondering what you thought might be good "interesting topics" for threads...

Your comments on poetry piss me off. You seem to have some bee in your bonnet about words that rhyme. Granted, from what I have read on here, many people don't follow rules for writing poems that rhyme, but it is a form of self expression for them that you have no right to condemn. When you can do better, talk then!!!

The reason I happen to be pulling you up on this topic is that I write rhyming poetry, (called form poetry, for those who know anything about the subject), and although rarely, I have posted here too.

The only difference between mine and others who post, might be, that some of mine have won awards in poetry circles worldwide and I have been published many times too. Unless you are some authority on the subject, (which I very much doubt), it might be best if you refrain from commenting negatively on things you apparantly know nothing about, and insulting people in the process.

I am not personally taking any of your comment to task about anything I might have written here, because chances are it was solittle and so long ago you probably haven't read any of mine, but I really feel for people who try their best to express a little of their thoughts and feelings in whatever form (pun intended), and hope to lighten someones day by doing that.

New York isn't the only place they believe in plain speaking you know!!!

scold

Poetry threads are largely overlooked because much of what is created on here reads like it was written by a 4th grader or very little effort went into it. Lets see love, dove yeah that works, kiss, bliss oh boy I'm really rhyming now. For gods sake please at least run a spell check on it and proof read it for typos or how about originality? You took the time & trouble to write it, why ruin it with a bunch of typos and misspellings?

Not at all, in fact I've written many rhyming poems. Everything I said about poetry on here is valid but I like to think of it as constructive criticism. besides, I didn't name 1 poem or poster so I don't see how you can say I insulted anybody. I've read many truly great poems on here and some that made me cringe and I'm sure you have too. I've posted some of my writings here and you're welcome to find them and pick them to pieces, you being a published award winning poet and all. Of course I've also written some crap too but I recognize it as crap and would never risk exposing it and burning somebodies eyeballs.

As far as interesting topics goes, I think THIS thread qualifies as a good topic.

I wouldn't dream of picking your poetry or anyone else's to pieces. I believe that if someone made the effort and had the courage to express it openly in poetic form, then encouraging comments would be better.

You insult people who post poems that they actually know isn't the best poerty ever or that doesn't adhere to the rules of form or rhyme or whatever. The real insult is assuming they are not intelligent enough to know this for themselves.

It is just wrong to make reference in a totally different thread behind someone's back about the tenor of what they wrote. If you say it to their face, (ie: in the thread where the poetry is posted), in a way that is constructive, then that is ok. There is nothing constructive about saying it is crap.wine
