Just watched a news story on the flooding along the Mississippi River and it was said about 5 million acres of farmland has been destroyed.
Mostly corn & soy crops, which will raise the cost of feed to the animals, which will raise the cost to the consumer in the supermarkets. It will also raise the transportation costs as the new "corn fuel" will also go up in price.
This loss of the farmland will probably last several years, as it will take some time for the soil to get back to "normal" for planting crops again.
My heart goes out to all the people who have lost EVERYTHING due to all this flooding, it is worse than what happened to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, and many of those people have not fully recovered from that yet.
I may not have a job, or source of income, but at least I have a roof over my head and I am VERY grateful for what little I do have.
I don't know how many of the people in the flooded areas will cope. To me it seems like they are fighting against insurmountable odds.
As my prayers & good thoughts go out to these people, I ask that you good people of CS do the same.

Yes, indeed.... I guess its easy to take so much for granted when not faced with such dilemmas, myself included at times, of course!!
There but for the grace of God, and all that....
I don't pray, as a rule.... but they are certainly in my thoughts!!

My heart is really burdoned for these people in the flood areas. Even one of our own, blue_eyed_blonde has been through this tragic and stressful event. I asked all CSers to pray, on her thread too. I stand in agreement with you lass! This is such a terrible disaster and unfortunately, I believe it's only the begining of what is to come, with disasters in our Nation and around the world. We are living in the end times. For those who don't believe... just take a look around. The earth will not hold up much longer. We will be transformed into a new dimension. Until then, love will keep us together, a common bond, of which I am proud to be a part of, with ALL of the wonderful CS members we relate to daily! I have been saying... Prepare!!! People think I am being Negative. It is a Positive thing to Prepare and be ready!

and and protective energy for those who are having to cope with adversity at this time and in the future
We are living in the end times as we know them. For those who don't believe... just take a look around. The earth will not hold up much longerin the way we know it The planets and the Earth have their own agenda irrespective of what humans do or don't do ... Although humans do have a small role in the changes ...
. We will be transformed into a new dimension for which we need to attain a higher lever of vibration

Someone sent me this....
Mr. Juseleeno, born in 1960 (reportedly still alive in 2008), is a Brazilian who made many predictions, and MOST have come to pass, including Princess Diana's death by car accident (which was instigated by someone near her and was unfortunately written off as a car accident), 911 and the 2004 Indonesian tsunami. He sees the future in his dreams. When he wakes up, he writes them down, and sends warnings to those concerned. If it concerns a normal individual, he will write a letter to warn him/her. If it is a famous person (celebrity, politician etc.), or matters concerning the public, he will not only send it to the individual himself/herself, but also related agencies, government, and media. He urged the media to publicise these predictions, but the reply always went along the lines of rejection for fear of arousing public panic. Future predictions: 2008, July: Earthquake in Japan , which will cause a tsunami of 30 plus meters high to occur as well. 2008, 18th September: Earthquake with magnitude of approx 9.1 will rock China , simultaneously causing a tsunami of more than 30 meters, resulting in the deaths of more than 1 million people. Although this huge earthquake will happen after the Olympics, there will be a series of relatively smaller earthquakes occurring in China before the huge one. The China government, which is more concerned with the success of the Olympics, will most likely neglect to employ appropriate cautionary measures, thus the high casualty rate. If the China government does not publicise the occurrence of these minor earthquakes and evacuate people, the number of deaths will be as predicted. 2008, 17th December: terrorist attack in America 2010: The temperatures in some countries of Africa could be as high as 58 degrees Celsius, and there will be a serious shortage of water. 2010, 15th June: The New York Stock Exchange will fail, causing an international financial crisis. 2011: The research on treatment of some cancers will be completed, but a new life-threatening virus will appear. People who are infected will die within approx. 4 hours of coming into contact with it. 2013, 1st - 25th November: Research on treatment of cancers, except for brain tumors, will be completed. An earthquake, caused by volcanic eruptions, will happen on Bahamas Island of the Canary Islands . A gigantic tsunami of roughly 150 meters will result. America's mainland, Brazil etc. will be affected, with the tsunami pushing into the land as far as 15 to 20 kilometers. Before the occurrence of this gigantic tsunami, the sea/ocean water levels will sink by about 6 meters, and large flocks of birds will start to migrate. 2014: A small planet that has been gradually closing in on Earth might eventually collide with Earth, and this collision, if come to pass, will affect the survival of humans as a whole. 2015: By mid Nov, the average temperature of Earth could be as high as 59 degrees Celsius. Many people will die from the overheat, and international confusion and terror ensues. 2016, April: A huge typhoon will invade China , causing massive damage. The 43rd USA president, George Walker Bush, will enter the hospital, and face a life or death situation. 2026, July: A super earthquake will occur in San Francisco, and it will be named 'The Big One'. Huge damage to surrounding areas. Many volcanoes will re-activate, and the height of resulting tsunami will be more than 150 meters. Mr. Juseleeno made known his predictions in hopes that people will take heed of his warnings, so that these disasters may be avoided. He hopes there will be a major change in the thinking of people's mindsets in the time period 2007 - 2008. One factor will be the environmental issue of global warming, which is more serious than what some meteorologists assume.
doomsday predictions have been with us since the beginning of time. I wish I had a dollar for every time I read that this person or that person was the anti-Christ. Or maybe a new car for each time a date was set for the Apocalypse. We have been told that the end of time is at hand since the time of Christ!!
Kind of reminds me of that Alanis song "You said you'd love me til the day you died....BUT YOU'RE STILL ALIVE"
Yes, times are bad...but they will get better. Then they will get bad again. Then better again!!
