The world kept in balance. Cultural memes holding our planet together. Practices that have existed since man became conscious, despite the enslaught of pleasure and power seekers, raping the earth instead of working in tandem with her. Despite the forced conscription to religions and accepted service to the oligarchy of a few. Despite being branded as backward, it still exists. thumbs up

Are we forgetting or just ignoring our roots?

definetely eschewed in favour of materialism for sure

In response to: Its good to see people en masse waking from the dream though

I wish that was true Trish. Maybe I'm missing something? Throughout our history there have always been pockets of people/cultures that maintain humanity's roots in this way. Indiginous tribes mostly; but, there are far larger numbers of people and cultures who continue to not only support the control tactics of materialism, but add to the crap en masse. I know I didnt get this computer without having materialistic notions...yet, without it would there even be a possibility for people to wake up in any numbers? Seems a rather circuitous and unnecessary route, but it is what it is. All life is suffering. Suffering happens because of ignorance. If you see buddha on your path, kill him! laugh

possibly we're all missing something Al, most people dont buy into materialism by choice, its foisted on us by society - from choice I dont have have a car, yet I see many more will be making this choice if petrol prices keep on rising as they have been doing - many aspects and facets of personal choice have been veiled for many years from most of us - we shop at asda/walmart cos its what we grew up with but Im happy to be seeing the growth of local produce markets - we must go to war because our politicians tell us its the right action - yeah, right laugh

People are waking up as I see it and beginning to question many things - it cant be bad to be wanting answers if you ask me wine the www plays a good part for people who want these answers, theres an infinity of them out there for the finding, for the looking - for the sheer want of finding something which works..............

you really have to see it dude. It covers a lot of ground, but its mostly about us instilling things in the generations we birth that are counter to well being of us all, not to mention mother earth or mather nature. Actually its that we make no time to teach our kids about our real roots, not the roots of religion and materialism. You need to see it to get the full meaning. dunno

moral ?... has implications, yes, but is far more.

Oh I agree it is through choice, but choice fostered by leaving those roots and becoming firmly entrenched in materialism. Not saying materism is bad, just that it is far more evident because of that entrenchment, foisted or not. You're right I think in that we go to shops for the purpose of buying more of what we want, than what we need. That materist draw is evident.

the web may be of help to some, but my point is that it is of little concern for the many thanit is the few. Evidence, the number of inane or mundane threads that receive pages and pages of responses, compared to meaningful threads about our roots or even spirtual things. As well the number of participants is so few. Not saying those threads are bad as I find myself particpating in them as well, but my point is they receive far greater particpation than threads that would 'wake' people up as you suggest. You're right its great for people who want those answers, I just dont think it has grown much greater 'en masse' than before the web really, and I think that that same materialist aspect has only mirrored itself in the web. Don't make me think, dont take my toys and fun away, dont ask me to change? dunno
