I think it depends. Sometimes one wants to get a feel for the other person. I've went out with women that I didn't really think I'd like all that well. Had a nice time as it turned out. Still friends w/some.

Over the years I've learned not to take dating too serious. If they like ya fine...if they don't fine. The bus stops every 15 minutes.

No I wouldn't be willing to settle just to go out on a date whether he be someone I knew or just met for the very first time.
If I didn't really like that person I wouldn't waste mine or his time just to date. Wouldn't be fair to either one of us.
Just my true feelings.
