PARCHMENT, Mich. (WOOD) -- A woman is going to jail after torturing her roommate's cat to death.
Terri Stimmel, 32, confessed to the latest incident. They say she kicked and stomped her roommate's cat, burned its ears in an oven, drowned it in a bathtub and put it in the clothes dryer before lying it on her roommate's bed to be discovered.
She was sentenced to a felony charge of torturing an animal and will spend 30 days in jail and three years probation. She isn't allowed to own an animal, and the court will likely mandate continued mental health counseling.
Part of Stimmell's sentence restricts her from contact with anyone under the age of 17.
Neighbors in the Parchment condo complex 24 Hour News 8 spoke with say they are thankful for that, worried someone with a mental health issue and a history of torturing animals might escalate into hurting children.
This isn't the first pet Stimmell has killed. Prosecutors say she admitted to killing five cats, a bird and a hamster under the influences of "uncontrollable urges."
Ok, she's obviously a mental case but she has a long history of killing other peoples pets. How dangerous does a psycho have to be to get committed?

in my opinion no its not long enough.
I have friends that run rescues and all my pets have come from rescues...... you should see what people do. mabey if there were real punishment they would think twice about what they do.
If this were a person she did this to she would either be sentenced to death or be put in a "happy hotel" for an indefinite length of time.....but because it was a poor, completely defenseless animal she gets 30 days?!?!
I'm not saying throw her in the electric chair.....but she needs to put away for a very long time before her "uncontrollable urges" are directed towards other humans......she is screaming for help. Does she have to torture somebody's son, daughter, mother, etc before she can receive it?
her neighbors were smart enough to make that connection, why not the justice system? Probation isn't going to stop her from turning her violence to children ......
Since she's already getting mental health counseling, maybe up or change her meds? She obviously has issues and needs help but will probably slip through the cracks until she does something to get herself locked up for a long time, then everyone will point the finger at each other with blame.
I have killed to defend "The Freedoms" of those facing oppression. I have even offered first aide to the enemy later even though he had tried to overrun my position and take my life. However, I've never tortured or harmed any harmless living creature, nor have I ever had any desire to do so. I have always deemd those that would harm helpless animals , men, women and children as the lowest lifeforms that exist and should be expelled from circulating among the masses. Semper fi ! I don't know about the rest of the country, but in Michigan, they consolidated the state mental institutions with prisons. in other words, there are no state mental hospitals. Mentally sick people who haven't committed a violent crime yet are only 'potentially' dangerous, are free to roam.
I am not saying everyone who is mentally ill should be institutionalized, just people like Terri Stimmel.
