thank you to sassy and all that have replied. yes I am one of those dreaded truck drivers. as I read this i am getting loaded in chicago for an overnight to new york, thats after a weekend load from miami fl. then I have to do a day trip from ny to va.... yall get the idea. this is all done wihin the rules and safe. but as your post says there are drawbacks. I have to give my wife a LOT of credit, while we talk most days, some it may only be for me to let her know that I am safe, parked, and going to bed. as my shift changes from day to day. but in the end I LOVE my job and what I do. its the days your rolling down the hi-way watching the sun come up or go down and thinking im free.
to all the other Drivers out there, keep it between the ditches, have a safe ride, and a good weekend when you get to it.
to all the non-drivers, thank you for apreceating what we do
I know several well off people that ar no more, if not less "happy" than I am. see they have to worry if thier friend are there for what they can give them. my friends are my friends for who I am not what I have. in the end I guess what we dissagree on is the meaning of the word "happiness" for some it is things, status, and such. for others as me it comes down to having a family, and friends that love you, and will be there no mater the time, place or inconvience. and making memories that will last a lifetime.............. this I have in spades.
my opinion on this one, is this, no money cant buy happiness. it can buy the fealing for a time, but as it goes away you have to spend more and more chasing that fealing. I am by no means well off, but am truly happy. some of my happiest times are just sitting in my livingroom tending the fire and talking to my wife. we all have to find in ourselfs happiness, and contentment, with who and what we are.
this just isnt right, perry GA, is 35 and overcast... though this is better than the last couple of days of freezing rain, sleet, and snow in tennessee....... I was 80 mi from home and couldnt even make it there.
have to say the last gift I got that ment a great deal to me was from my wife. I had told her many times that I was looking for a tigger stuffed animal for my truck and that I also liked eeyore. she tracked down both, (12" plush) and got them for me for christmas. the last thing I expected, and to hear her tell she wishes she had a camera to capture the look on my face.
nope, I dont think i could. my connection was on the fritz for just a couple of days last week, I went nuts. I use it for so much. talking to friends and family, checking on the weather in the areas I am going to drive in, paying bills. so in general I need it daily.
