Not Superman or George Bush of course but something deeper.

I mean, it provokes of not thinking of any hero for mankind, say, someone who has really brought up a revolution in human life through his/her enormous sacrifice, just because the road of mankind has always been downward. But maybe that is because that road has nothing to do with heroes and the very essence of those paladins is to learn to be oblivious of all the crap.
However some names might be recalled. Just curious what people think of that kind of heroes mankind has if there is one at all.

Jesus Christ...the only answer that fits your description.

Even if you are not religious, you have to admit He was a revolutionary. There were others, but only faint copies...

You might get confused but I admire him dearly. I mean not the guy hanging in the Cross as it has been sooooo stressed by those that have seized the control of faith, but just as a seeker of something. I would prefer to see him depicted with his club walking in the mountains following his endless path.
Unfortunately his revolution was the thing killed by those Roman cross and church....

I admire certain professional athletes who have endured and overcame every conceivable obstacle in order to achieve their dreams...

Pro athletes perform in the public eye, go to work to perform in front of thousands at a stadium, and in front of millions through the media.
For some, it's pretty much a do or die epic battle within themselves to accomplish something they have been dreaming about since a kid.
Then there is the fierce competition they are challenged with. It's the ultimate challenge physically and mentally that I admire and overcoming all odds and winning a battle for themselves, their team, and city....and no I am not talking about Rockylaugh
