gillyloves69: POLICIES HELP !
BUT PEOPLE CHANGING IS EVEN BETTER !
Let me just play the advocate. We all know that Obama is half black and half white. That would make him a mulatto. Everyone is saying he is the first BLACK president of the US? Now the same way he gets to be called the first BLACK president because he's half black does he get to call himeself WHITE president too? Now the answer to that will really determine how FAR things have really come.

I'm confused. I thought Bill Clinton was the 1st black president?
The only difference I see his colour making is....to echo the sentiments of Whoopie Goldberg....to show every black person in America that they indeed can accomplish anything they set their minds too...including becoming president of the United States....I believe it is more what Obama stands for and represents which is an approach to peace and mending racial relations in the face of a very prejudicial America that will make the most difference!!!!!!!!!

Do you realize what you said? He is president because of white Americans primarily.

redbellypirhana: Yes it does, but time will tell, but you can't get rid of what people want to think, you will always have people who will not like eachother for what ever reason, we just gotta get along...
This is true...and I think that's probably the most that can be hoped for....
This happened locally. At a Safeway store. Some black "lady" in her 50's entered a Safeway store. She came in yelling, I want this...and that...this and that....I want it now! So on and so forth. The attendant couldn't calm her down. The manage came and tried to resolve the issue.
Her issue was... "Obama is president now. You do what we say".
She was promptly banned from the store and will be arrested if she returns.
Such is life....
Oh now I just can't wait for the responses.... LOL
tainogirl: I find this thread truly entertaining. Here's why, Enough people voted for a MAN (notice I did not mention his colour) to get him voted into office as President. Some people approve of him and some don't nothing strange there. But this poor man is now under double the scrutiny any normal president would be under, he has to make sure he lives up to his policies, he has to make sure he has to live up to the hopes of blacks and make them proud and he has to live up to the hopes of whites and others and make them proud that they took a chance on him. That's AWESOME lot of responsibility and I don't have a crystal ball to say how it will all turn out. Heck have all politicians always lived up to ALL the promises that they make? But whether he is a lawyer or not, honest or not, fulfilled all the promises or not, would he be under such intense scrutiny if he were a white president? Just wondering
Well Ma'am, he promised an awful lot to an awful lot of people. He owe's MoveOn.org $88 million in favors. I don't think that'll mend many fences with "moderate" Americans.

My 2nd thought:
Be careful what you ask for in life. You just may get it.
It's difficult to feel too sorry for any politican as they put themselves in the situation.
