.....are physically stronger, emotionally weaker with a fragile ego to boot. Women are emotionally stronger and physically weaker (oh and they moan a lot toolaugh ).

So when a man whacks a woman physically he thinks (tho not much!) she can take it. When a woman whacks a man emotionally she thinks (too much) I can so why can,t he.

Being ego-centric we believe everybody is just like us. They aren,t. And therein lies the crux of the matter, thre nub of the problem which rages inside each and every relationship. Men should be men and women should be glad of it. Women should be women and women should be glad of it.dancing

I think that, far from being glad, a woman who has been whacked physically by a man should call the police and have him arrested. And the police should do something about it.

And the police do do something about it, if the woman wants to press charges.

Hi you

I am a supporter of men, I think men get a raw deal, because women give to them.

In alot of areas, women are taken care of, men are not, employment for example, in the UK, they are not taken care of, women get alot than men do.

Men do not often report domestic violence, because they feel that it would be frowned upon, it happens, but because they are supposed to be big and strong, they should be able to handle it.

I watched my mother approach my father with a knife as a child, what was he to do? Let her stab him? He did not, he slapped her, so that she dropped the knife.

Does that make my father a violent man?

And if so, what does it make my mother?

I love being a woman, I love being feminine... however our life choices often put women in a position that makes us lose or hide our femininity and vulnerability from the world...

In order to survive we wear masks of strength, shields of armour and hope that someone sees beneath the defenses...

handshake

In our professional work - yes, we do, but we women can make these masks and shields transparent enough for those who want to see; who do not - why care about them, they are blind anyway... As soon as we leave our business environment, we are women again... we are a very adaptive species in this man's, man's, man's world...

guiriman: fear would perhaps be the obvious choice, no?

It would, yes.

But then if they do not press charges because they are fearful, why walk head on into the fear?

Fear stands in amny people's way, it has stood in mine for a long time, not because of violence, I have not suffered it, I have had a man slap me, shake me, when I was being irrational, but not true violence. There is a difference.

Good discussion.

seems you would leave a violent partner to inflict pain and injury rather than prosecute them through the state if the injured party is unwilling to press charges - even knowing the reason that person doesn't want take out legal proceedings is that she or he is afraid of retribution? I cannot agree with that.

No, I cannot believe in that.

If any person who calls the police to a situation, it is investigated and there is enougn evidence and then the person who called the police does not press charges, because of fear? That is a waste of any person's time, but then it is the 'I love them' and 'they did not mean it'

I have little time for that, but I know it is fear, and I should show more emapthy, but I find that hard to do.

But if it was a friend, then I would be more willing to invest time in helping her to see it more clearly.

I knew a man once whose wife would cut him, when he did not do something that she wanted, in the end he did have the courage to leave her, but he never reported it, it was only when we were swimming that I saw his back, I asked him, and he told me.

Hard to judge and hard to iron out.

But men are men and should be allowed to be men as should be women be allowed to be women.

conversing

Yes, those who are physically stronger are not necessarily so strong emotionally... at least they cannot always deal with their emotions in a proper way.

Men are more often subject to heavy stress in their professional environment, they care a lot about their career, they are more ambitious than most women, and however much they are ready to face challenges, they usually suffer a lot more than women when they lose...

Yes, a woman will whine, cry and even be hysterical to let her emotions out, and then she wipes her tears and feels fine. A man keeps all his frustrations to himself, he thinks it is wrong for a guy to show his tears and being under too much stress he suffers a heart attack or a stroke...

That's what I understand by men being emotionally weaker, and it looks like some people take it as offence... Smoky put it correctly when she said that a man's ego is very fragile. Not just weak, but fragile.

Most women are better fighters in everyday situations than men, and I do not mean it in the physical sense, only that they are mentally stronger. Nature took care of that...

That's why a woman needs a physically strong man to take care of her, and a man need a woman's support in things he does. It is so easy...

ego is not gender specific. Both men and women need a little stoking now and then. We all need to stop making excuses for someones shortfalls. Its the only way we can help each other grow

She was, and she was not even sorry about what she had done. They keep her in a single cell now because otherwise they could not guarantee her safety in a women's prison. I will try to find a link on the web in English to this story, but I am not sure if I will succeed. Maybe they even have some videos on YouTube, they had many in our online media, but only in Lithuanian.

In this video you can see the woman who has already divorced her husband and got back her maiden name Bruzaite (she was Jonaitiene when she was married). She did not regret what she had done, and she was the first woman in the three Baltic countries to be sentenced to life imprisonment. You can also see her husband, and the elder man is her lawyer.

There is absolutely nothing about this horrible case in English, I have just checked... at least Google does not find it.

Elley: So so sad for those little kiddies, it makes you weep. I think it is good she was found to be mentally healthy. Why should she enjoy a cushy institute. Shows you that there are some truly evil bstds out there.

She was 34 when she did it, and the boys were 8 and 12, lovely kids... In this picture she is shedding false tears at her sons' funeral when nobody even suspected her, but she was detained just a couple of days later and confessed at once. The local police did a good job...
