My first son had been born just a few weeks before. My baby was sleeping in his bassinet, which I had near me in the living room. While he slept, I tried to grab some much-needed sleep, too. I fell asleep on the couch and when I awoke, there was a news bulletin about John Lennon being shot and killed. I remember rubbing my eyes and thinking I was still dreaming. When I was fully awake and when my baby woke up, I took my son and held him in my arms....I went to the rocking chair, rocked my boy, and cried.
I don't have a favorite song, because I loved so many of them. But I always think of "Beautiful Boy" as a very special one, reminding me of that time when John was killed and my own beautiful boy was just beginning his life.

I shooks hands with him in the early 70's at a march of dimes walk, I'll never forget that day. I don't remember were I was when I heard he was shot but the next day I took his photo from the white album and put it on the trunk of my car with clear stick paper over it, everybody said it was pretty cool.

Woman I can hardly express,
My mixed emotion at my thoughtlessness,
After all I'm forever in your debt,
And woman I will try express,
My inner feelings and thankfullness,
For showing me the meaning of succsess,
oooh well, well,
oooh well, well,

Woman I know you understand
The little child inside the man,
Please remember my life is in your hands,
And woman hold me close to your heart,
However, distant don't keep us apart,
After all it is written in the stars,
oooh well, well,
oooh well, well,

Woman please let me explain,
I never mean(t) to cause you sorrow or pain,
So let me tell you again and again and again,
I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever,
I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever,
I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever,
I love you (yeah, yeah)...

Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,

Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Darling,
Darling,
