I stole the whole thread from Vienna, She misnamed it Mondegreens! The name they are known by.... LOL I think with that many music lovers, it would be a shame to miss! Read it;
So the following text is from Vienna!
The classic example was the Jimi Hendrix lyrics, "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" misheard as "kiss this guy."

Mine: As a small child, I thought the words to Jingle Bells were: "Bells on coctails ring, making spirits bright What fun it is to laugh and sing a sleighing song tonight."
Hey, I had NO clue what a bobtail was but my parent's always said that five o'clock was cocktail hour.
There are many songs I've never understood entirely, or years later figured out I'd been misunderstanding. Some Rolling Stones songs still are uncomprehensible after thirty years!
The theme song to the American TV show 'All in the Family'. When I was growing up I thought the line 'the way Glenn Miller played' was 'the wigglin' milipleade'. I thought a milipleade was some kind palm-like tropical plant which I pictured wigglin' in the wind. Not an especially bright kid, I guess.
I'm known for doing that all the time, my friends get a kick out of it, i will just say something that sound like it, and i don't even know what it means execpt that sound like it, some times words with no meaning, but it just sound like the ones in the lyric.
On Night Boat to Cairo by 80s group Madness, the actual words are;
"The oar snaps in his hand as he reaches dry land But the sound doesnt dampen his smile. Just pokes at wet sand with the oar in his hand Floats off down the river Nile."
Until I saw the lyrics, I always thought he sang in the 3rd line "Just pokes at West Ham with the oar in his hand"
West Ham are a soccer club in the UK and one of the singers of Madness was a West Ham United Football Club supporter.

Not really a misheard one but one I misunderstood:
Blowing in the wind.
Long ago when it was forbidden to smoke dope in Holland I thought Dylan was warning me to smoke my joint in the wind so the cops would not smell them....

Spirits are alcohol, so it made sense to me.
