Went to my parents house last night after their Christmas Eve service and Santa had already been there. I received a wireless router so that I don't have to have a cable running from the DSL modem into the living room when I want to use my laptop. The CD in the box was useless....lol Had to call their support and go through the prompts to get it to work. Then while I was on hold for the laptop I logged in to their "help" and found connecting a wireless Windows Vista machine and HERE I AM yay

I know...such drama laugh

Anyway, hope everyone else is having a good Christmas. I'll be heading to my parents house in a couple of hours. Gee...guess I should eat breakfast huh (it's 10:20) laugh

At first I didn't like it because the computer only had 1 gig of memory. I had a friend look at it and found out that 1/2 of the gig wasn't working. He replaced that and bumped me up to 2 gigs and cleaned up the machine & removed some programs that aren't really needed. It works great now (what he did was a little over my head...last time I tried doing something like that I accidentially removed a .DLL file that was needed to run the blasted thing & had to get out the recovery disks and redo the hard drive)

Otherwise, it pretty much feels the same as XP....I probably don't use all the components that there are so I'm not seeing that big of a difference. The top of the page looks different and that's taken a little getting used to.

Sure!! LOL...actually, your best resource would be the tech guys in your district. When I worked in Antioch I'd ask the guys there to help me out & they were always willing to. The guy who looked at my laptop is actually with a neighboring district that's giving our district tech support.

I'm glad you got your router working! I have to put mine back in because my sons want to use both computers now that they got my laptop working right again. I took it out because it kept causing communications errors with my cable. I'm still thinking of using a splitter instead to hook up the laptop...we keep them in the same room anyway.

Merry Christmas!

OMG, don't get me started on those tech support geeks. They have the social graces of the 2 month old cheddar in the veggie bin of my fridge. When I was naive enough to think they actually served some purpose I remember venturing to their basement lair. There's a reason they always keep them in the basement. Exactly once in 20 years has one of my classroom computers been fixed by one of them. I think he was lost actually and found himself in front of one of our computers by mistake and started tinkering. frustrated
