All of the above but what I have learned about romance at least for me is that if it's over the top I don't tend to believe it. Subtle is best. Of course it depends on your date? If she is serious might not be a great thing to joke too much. Also I have always found that I hit it off with someone better on a date if we were doing an activity. Just a thought.

litle bit of both, i like a guy that makes me laugh like romance too but not over the top on the first date.

Definately Humour. Romance on a first date would scare most women off, especially if they didn't know you very well. They would be worried that you were only after one thing.

Definitely more humor on the first date. Though it could end with a nice, romantic kiss if it goes well.
