Daisy, I think you ought to go on the night.

Firstly, gay people darm well go to straight bars; why can't we go to gay barsprofessor laugh

Secondly, you will have a barrel of laughs there. Probably half of those there will be straight so you won't be on your own, so to speak.

Thirdly, don't believe the old wifes tales. Guys don't actually walk around gay bars feeling each other up or bonking in the snug or anything like that. While it can be a bit disconcerting to see guys or girls kissing, you just don't sit there and stare them out, same way you wouldn't in any other bar or cafe.

Fourthly, it's a party. They won't always be on in places you are not sure off. Okay if it's a bar you don't plain want to go to but mend and make do for a once off. I get to work in all manner of pubs and hotels and some I patently hate; I just suck it up and get it over with. The fun time will get you through.

Lastly, they are your friends and thats the main thing that counts. You are out with them, not the pub. cheers cheers

Thedeise: Hi all,

A couple of my friends want to go to a gay bar on new years eve night, i am in no way in favour of this, but they are the type that will do what they want one way or another, the funny thing is, they are not gay.

What do you thik, should i join them, and risk ruining my reputation, or should i just say "no".

Hi Robert,

Gay bars are usually great fun and very flamboyant. You'll have a good time if you go but if it's out of your comfort zone and you wouldn't feel at ease ...don't comfort

go for the laugh i've got some friends who are gay they can be great craic. now mind you i wouldn't spend the whole night there i'd prefer to be amongst my own persuasion. if you feel uncomfortable i'm sure they'd be no objection in leaving you leave. maybe arrange to meet other friends else where just in case.

I'd say go unless you're particularly uncomfortable being there but don't base it on what other people think.
