Something that I think, from my own perspective, and also from reading other people's posts, that it is sometimes easier to stay on a site like this and "hide" to a degree, rather than head out into the un-cyber world.

Alot of members contact/get contacted by another member, and there seems to be a connection, but then the "What Ifs..Will He/She..?", come in. Its almost like we are worried about taking that actual step into relality dating, and are just looking for an excuse not to pursue it. Think about something too long, and get too much advice, and there is always a reason for backing out. I myself have done it in the past - no more now tho, life is too short. Id rather have a disaster than nothing at all. Makes life interesting!!

Wondered what other people's opinions and experiences were?

PS - I also think sites can be used as "Comfort Zones". It is possible to stay on one too long, I think, just because its easier..

Date locally, meet within a month tops. I prefer to meet IRL within a week.

I believe sometimes that can be true for some but not for me.

I used to spend an awful lot of time in the cyber world so to speak but now that I have my own home based business I don't spend quite as much time on websites as I used to.

As far as for dating etc I'm not ready yet to do that.I chat with someone from this site and reply to some threads but as far a romance not as yet.

I'm spending less time on here. I've found someone that I really care about.

I still enjoy the banter though.

I've had several dates over the years from online dating...one guy I dated for a few months before it broke up, before my last marriage. My recent ones have only lasted a date or two. I'm just having trouble finding one that I can connect with that way...though there is one I met on another site about a year ago that I'm still friends with now. All of those have been local. Haven't met anyone in person yet from forums...few are close enough, and most that are, are female, so that would be friends getting together, but not a date. laugh

Anyway, I'd move it to real as soon as possible because everything can seem wonderful online, and even on the phone, but not be as good when you meet. I'd like to know about that as soon as possible. wine

It's why I go to several sites, And have met about a dozen men from the other place. None were right, But we did click in mail. Oh well.

And two I found here, one I moved in with for 5 months and it fell apart. And another that changed his mind about moving.

So I do take my virtual world into the reality. I have had many great and bad dates because of it. It's given me a life. In the real world unless you go to a bar, not many men approach women anymore, like at the store or laundry mat. laugh
