When I have extra food I throw it out to the ferral cats. Even the squirrels come for dinner. The racoons come at night and there might be a bear or two that needs a snack.

The town and my landlord don't want people to throw food out to the stray cats but I can't help myself cause I feel sorry for them.

It has been suggested that people catch the cat and take it to a vet for shots and then an adoption center. When I was a little girl I caught a cat cause I wanted to play with it but the cat didn't want to play. I kept trying to hold on to it and eventually it showed me that it meant business and scratched my arms quite badly. So I am not willing to take on that challenge again.

They will find food somewhere if I don't feed them but I enjoy watching them eat and then scurrying away. Is it really so bad that I'm not following the town ordinance. No one has caught me doing it. Whadda ya think?

As sad and hard as it is to not feed them, you're doing more harm than good. They now know that there will be food at snuggle's house. Small animals aren't a threat, unless they're rabid, but a bear could bring you trouble when you least expect.

My suggestion to you would be to quit throwing the food out to the animals cold turkey. Perhaps buy yourself a nice birdfeeder and watch the birdies enjoying the seed you put out. Safer for you and your neighbors.

thumbs up

We have bears in our neighborhood.

Other vermin may come out to dinner also (rats, mice, etc)

Feed the animals!! People brought them into this world, by not caring for them properly. Feed them! They need you. Care for God's creatures. WWJD????

When I am living on my own, I feed stray anything. They are the homeless of the animal world. WWJD?

I put out apples hanging from the trees for the racoons...bird feeders, squirrel feeders and cat food for anyone who want it.

I feed the bears on the street corners asking for food. Big Hairy men!!..LOL WWJD??

They absolutely do know that Snuggles has food for them. They wait in the trees until I open the door. I don't have it everyday and the days that I don't throw something out I hope they found it somewhere else. It's not the same to watch the birds in a bird feeder in a warm house. Tonight the cats and racoons will have chicken with a side of spagetti and cranberry raisin muffins for their dessert. And yes, they really do eat spagetti rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
