You could say my presence on CS is sporadic but I see folks on here who did have profile pictures but now have them removed, Why?. To the ones who never had a picture on their profile I say be brave and let us see what you look like. I would never initiate contact with a faceless one as in the back of my mind, I think perhaps there is a physical blemish that they are hiding. Would you carry on a conversation with a new neighbour and arrange a date if they were behind a fence or wore a mask where their face was hidden?comfort

dublinlass: physical blemish that they are hiding. would not cross my mind at all, its the person that you talk to not their looks
Is how they look not part of the persona of an individual? Do you not look at someone's physical appearance when you talk to them?
I think this has an influence on the conclusions we reach.

I never get the thing of people being worried others will find out are on a dating site sure if someone was to see them then they have to be looking at it too dunno iv talked to plenty without pictures but wouldn't dream of agreeing to meet someone unless I knew what they look like, I mean fair is fair iv put myself out there so I think its only fair they do the same be it through an eCard or by putting a pic up even for a short while. personality is important but the has to be some physical attraction going on there top for me dunno

For me it depends, at the moment I'm actively looking for dates off here again so have put up a pic, but when I go back to just using it for a forum, I'll take my pic down again.

I seem to remember for quite some time you had no pic up yourself. That's not any kind of personal attack, just saying there was obviously a time when you didn't quite feel that way, or was it just that you had no pic to put up.

I would be one of these people that worries about that. It's the not having control that would get to me. I've spotted several people I know personally on this site and it's disconcerting not knowing how open or otherwise they are about this site, not knowing for sure whether they're blabbing in conversation about me using a dating site to mutual friends is really offputting. I don't have a big hang up about using dating sites, but it would be nice to be able to pick and choose who knows about it. For me I really think it's a pity that your pic turns up on your forum posts. Surely there is some way of separating the two. As far as I recall, the forum on Plenty of Fish does not show people's photos.

I've only ever made contact with someone who has a pic, but have been contacted by faceless profile..sure short banters are ok but not interested in revealing myself to someone who makes excuses for not having a pic.....if u like looking at me do me a favour and let me do same.dancing

see to me that's a slight contradiction, you are worried about who sees you on here or who is talking about you bring on here yet you say you have no big hang ups about being on here. to me the previous would mean that you do dunno I know a good few people on here that I "found" by accident including one of the girls from work and my sister but it doesn't bother me, if someone you know makes fun of the fact that you use here for the various reasons you do then are they really worth having around dunno

True but dating is all about first impressions there has to be some initial pull. I think we can all at times be a little more shallow than we'd like to admit too.

im a bit like that too, I hate pictures of myself and will do anything I can to get out of them but iv still put some up on here, im sure they turn plenty of fellas away but its the one that sticks around to talk to me and get to know me is the one who counts conversing
