The difference is both in their action and effect of such.

Intervene would infer coming between an action and its consequences for the better of all involved.
You can intervene in the affairs of a Interfering person for a better outcome
but you can not expect to Interfere with someone intervening and produce a positive outcome..

Well said , yes intervening is an entirely different concept than interfering ,
Many times people have intervened for me for the good of and many times I have intervened yes sometimes one may look on it as interfering but when it is intervening in a totally unconditional way that is the difference between the two ,
