"In Constant Contact"

We have been friends,since childhood
Playing in each others yards, playing in each others swimming pools
We grew up so close, exchanged phone numbers at such a young age
Had the same dog as a pet, helped each other when we were sick
Went to the same school, did each others homework
Talked on the phone for hours,in constant contact

We listened to the same music, always shared each others clothes
We slept over each others houses, polished each others toes
We were inseperable,in constant contact

We are in high school now,can you believe it
Same hairstyle,same taste in shoes
We have three classes together, always keeping up with whats new
Had the same taste in boys, and as a matter of fact, dating brothers
in constant contact.

The years went by,like they always did
Spring,Summer,Fall,we got through it all,in constant contact
Graduation is hear,were both excited
Pretty soon were going to find our own place,we both knew what we wanted.
You said we will be the best of friends, always,in constant contact

You got accepted to a prestigous university,I had to stay behind
You called everyday, and we spoke of old times
Remembering our youth, and everything we went through,in constant contact.
You are married now,I am alone
Never married,no children to speak of,no family of my own

Sometimes,I wonder if we were in constant contact, would things be different,or would they be the same
Always together,inseperable,like in the past

I received a call, that I did not want to hear,a few months had past between us,becuase you were ill.
I remember the phone calls stop, the letters with return to sender
We were,indeed now seperated forever.

My dear friend, your gone like a feather in the wind
May God bless you, wherever your soul maybe
As for me,the memories I cherish, ofyou, will remain in constant contact with thee.

nothing stays the same, everything evolves, lives move forward, and become diverse, you speak well of change, but memories linger, how precious they are, for in the end, we are but dust, and a shadow.
